Job description

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Technical Registry Services Team. The role requires close collaboration with the various stakeholders, including customers, registrars and the rest of the business to understand requirements and drive positive project outcomes, all while representing the company’s best interests.

For this position it will be necessary, hands-on technical responsibilities with managerial duties with the intention of fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the rest of the engineering and operation teams.

In addition the role will be responsible for maintaining and ensuring a smooth operation of applications in production environments, proactively troubleshooting issues and implementing solutions to maintain and increase system reliability. Ensuring compliance with industry policies and best practices, as well as company policies and legal guidelines, will also be a key aspect of this role.

Due to the geographical location of our customers and close partners, we will prefer candidates located in European time zones.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of software engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and technical expertise.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including customers, to understand requirements and drive project success.
  • Oversee the technical direction and delivery of projects, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
  • Manage the recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation of team members.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between cross-functional teams.
  • Balance hands-on coding responsibilities with managerial duties to support project delivery.
  • Champion best practices in software development, including code quality, scalability, and security.
  • Ensure compliance with industry policies and best practices, as well as company policies and legal guidelines
  • Drive initiatives to streamline development processes and improve overall efficiency.
  • Serve as a technical advisor, providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a technology leadership role.
  • Extensive experience in the domain industry, with a deep understanding of domain registry and registrar operations.
  • Proficiency in DNS, DNSSEC, EPP, RDAP, WHOIS, as well as IPv4/6 protocols.
  • Strong coding abilities in one or more programming like Python, Go, Perl, Postgres procedural language (PL/PGSQL), XML.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor software engineers, encouraging their professional growth and development.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and other project management approaches.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically about technical challenges.
  • Commitment to promoting a collaborative and inclusive work environment.
