Role Overview:

We are now seeking experts in this field to spearhead the next phase of our digital transformation.

To achieve our mission of “creating the future of media”, we recognize the pivotal role of data and are committed to enhancing our Data Engineering capability.

This role demands a profound grasp of data engineering and technology, coupled with the ability to effectively communicate these complexities to drive business success.

As an Engineering Manager in Data and Analytics, you'll be instrumental in crafting data solutions that empower both internal teams (e.g., marketing, sales, finance) and external stakeholders (e.g., advertising agencies, brands, digital site landlords), thereby directly influencing our business's trajectory.

You will be based in our London office and you'll collaborate with regional offices in the UK.

Occasional travel across European markets may be required.

 

Responsibilities:

Understanding Needs: Dive deep into business, user, and customer requirements to scope, design, and deliver data solutions that address their needs and drive value.

Architecture and Design: Define optimal architecture and design solutions tailored to meet business objectives.

Build, Test, Deploy: Hands-on creation and delivery of data solutions, guiding them through production and into the hands of users.

Coaching, Mentoring and Managing: You will be responsible for leading, developing and growing a team of approximately five or more junior data engineers.

Engineering Practices: Champion best engineering practices, driving continuous improvement across the team and adopting agile and DevOps methodologies.

Collaboration: Work closely with other teams involved in data creation or consumption to ensure seamless end-to-end data solutions.

 

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in building cloud-based analytics and data platforms.
  • A Proven track record of designing and building large-scale, high-profile analytics and data platforms.
  • Proven ability to foster collaboration, manage risk strategically, and think creatively.
  • Demonstrated capability in setting clear direction, managing change, and ensuring delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills with high emotional intelligence and conflict management abilities.
  • Capacity to build credibility, drive best practices, and continuously improve.
  • Extensive experience in building teams/communities alongside implementing and adhering to best practices.
  • High level knowledge of data quality principles and experience in implementing data governance frameworks to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with regulations.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Power BI, for creating interactive and informative visualizations to communicate insights from data.
  • Expert level knowledge in data modelling, schema design, and database optimization techniques

 

Tech Skills:

  • Proficiency in modern cloud-based data platforms and technologies.
  • Expertise in data analysis, modelling, ETL, data warehousing, and core data infrastructure services.
  • Familiarity with technologies such as Microsoft Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Databricks Notebooks, Python/PySpark, and more.
  • Proficiency in harnessing the use of data visualization tools such as Power BI (DAX)
  • Strong understanding of architecting for Non-Functional Requirements such as: Scalability, High Availability, Cost Efficiency, Security, Compliance etc
  • Mature experience in architecting and designing of data platforms.
  • Strong experience in the implementation of core data infrastructure services
  • Deep understanding of core technology disciplines such as Agile, DevOps and Quality Assurance
