About the role:

We are looking for a senior engineering manager to support a team of around 10 people. Accountable for both delivery and people leadership you will have significant experience of goal setting, career development and maturing engineering process in a high-velocity environment.

In your role you'll not only ensure the effective delivery of high-quality software, but also develop a nurturing and stimulating work environment. You'll inspire your team to reach their potential, setting clear objectives, providing constructive feedback, and fostering professional growth.

You'll have a deep understanding of software engineering principles and be well-versed in the latest industry trends and emerging technologies. As a part of your role, you will be expected to enhance and optimize our existing engineering processes, making significant contributions to our technical strategy and vision. You will be expected to drive technical discussions so you must have recent experience of modern web languages and cloud architecture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, with proven track record in software development and significant industry experience in a leadership role managing software engineering teams.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering large scale software projects in a SaaS company.
  • Demonstrated success in a startup or scale-up environment, with experience in navigating the challenges of rapid growth.
  • Strong technical proficiency, including a deep understanding of software development principles, architecture design, and familiarity with modern development tools and practices.
  • Exceptional people management skills, with experience in hiring, developing, and retaining top engineering talent.
  • Experience in setting and achieving strategic goals and KPIs for an engineering department.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and experience in fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a track record of making critical decisions under pressure.
  • Demonstrable experience with modern SaaS technologies and platforms, and an ability to stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications or professional training in project management, Agile, Lean, or other related fields.
  • Proven experience in driving technical strategy and leading architectural decisions within a SaaS company.
  • Demonstrable experience in promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within an engineering team.
  • Experience leading teams of 8 or more engineers.
