Engineering Manager

Air is a Creative Ops System for creative teams. Our product automates the mindless tasks that creatives and marketers do every day to manage content, unlocking creativity through image recognition, automated versioning, and approval workflows. We launched in March 2021 and have raised over $70M from world-class venture capital groups, including Avenir, Tiger Global, Headline Ventures, Lerer Hippeau, WndrCo, and Slack Ventures.

The Role

We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to lead our core product pod — a fullstack team responsible for shipping the next generation of functionality to all of Air’s users via our web application. You’ll report directly to our VP of Engineering.

This role requires in-office attendance at least 3 days/week in New York City.

What you’ll do

You’ll manage 6-8 engineers and work closely with product and design to ship features, scale systems, and keep the team unblocked. You’ll communicate daily with cross-functional leaders on sales, marketing, customer success and our co-founders.

This is a hands-on leadership role. We’re looking for someone who’s not afraid to dive in — reviewing PRs, writing tech specs, and shipping code when it helps the team move faster.

In this role you’ll focus on:

  • Execution – Drive delivery across projects, clarify priorities, and help the team stay focused and unblocked
  • Technical leadership – Guide architecture and technical planning; raise the bar for quality, reliability, and documentation
  • People management – Support growth through feedback, career planning, and regular 1:1s
  • Team culture – Build a collaborative, inclusive environment where engineers can do their best work

Requirements

  • You have 10+ years experience working at software companies shipping high-quality code to real-world customers
  • You’ve led high-performing engineering teams and still enjoy being close to the code
  • You know how to turn broad goals into scoped, actionable projects
  • You bring clarity in the face of ambiguity and bias toward shipping
  • You care deeply about people, communication, and building healthy teams

The compensation range for this role is USD $148,000 to $280,000.
