Overview 

The Calcite Engineering Manager will oversee the development and execution of a broad portfolio of technologies and technology integration into Direct Air Capture CAPEX projects, while also leading and mentoring the Calcite Engineering team.   

Responsibilities 

  • Oversee the operation and execution of technology integration into Calcite projects, from Pilot Plant to Commercial deployments. 
  • Manage all engineering processes and procedures for Calcite and related Carbon Dioxide Removal projects. 
  • Set and develop standards and procedures for engineering and project execution. 
  • Develop, manage, review, and approve the technical design. 
  • Support both internal and Contractor engineering teams during studies, Pre-FEEDs, FEEDs, and/or EPC phases of a project, including the detailed engineering, design, and procurement phase. 
  • Provide technical direction and engineering support during design, construction, commissioning, and start-up. 
  • Produce, review, and approve technical design specifications, P&IDs, data sheets, and documents adhere to industry best practices. 
  • Participation in hazard workshops and 3D model reviews for pilot and commercial plant design. 
  • Lead and mentor the Calcite Engineering team. 
  • Collaborate with Project Management, R&D, Commercial groups, JV partners, suppliers, and clients to ensure timely deliverable completion. 
  • Ensure quality, technical contract compliance, design completeness, schedule adherence, and risk mitigation for the Calcite program. 
  • Identify and collaborate with equipment suppliers to design custom equipment. 

Essential Skillset, Education/Qualification, Certification Attainment: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. 
  • Minimum 15 years of Engineering experience within the construction materials and/or minerals processing industry. Additional experience in discrete production and automation is a plus. 
  • Solids’ handling equipment experience is a plus. 
  • Experience in developing engineering and document management processes and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering and construction standards, materials, and companies/vendors’ processes. 
  • Ability to mentor and educate the Calcite Engineering team in best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience in setting and developing standards and quality procedures.
  • Project Management experience a plus 

Desirable Skillset, Education / Qualifications, Certification Attainment 

  • AutoCad and/or Solidworks experience.
  • Process Simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS or similar).
  • Experience with an Owners Engineer. EPC, OEM or PMC role.
  • PE certification is a plus. 
  • PMP is a plus.
