We are looking for an exceptional Engineering lead who has a passion for nurturing every child to become an everyday hero who drives positive change for himself / herself, others and the world, is concerned about animal welfare, wildlife conservation, and sustainability. As one of the first few hires on the venture, you will strike the delicate balance of defining technical architecture, guiding teams whilst also getting into the weeds to code as needed.  

In this role you will:  

Drive technical strategy, architecture and roadmap 

  • Set the technical vision, strategy and architecture from concept to future state to drive short-and long-term impact 
  • Partner with internal C-suite and broader corporate stakeholders, cross-functional peers in Engineering, Design and Commercial to translate technical vision into a technically feasible roadmap 

Deliver products par excellence

  • Lead and drive software delivery, providing visibility of progress and performance
  • Effectively align teams and resources to achieve key business priorities on time and at the appropriate scope and highest quality
  • Pitch in with code, code reviews, architectural reviews and technical mentoring whenever necessary
  • Direct and drive high volume product pushes focusing on speed and quality  
  • Ensure all internal processes and external services comply with security and privacy policies and regulations (data compliance in particular)
  • Build an efficient end-to-end application infrastructure, applying standard methodologies in software estimation and delivery
  • Ensure that overall technical practices are scalable, constantly evaluating tech stacks to cater to evolving business needs
  • Define and implement an effective, transparent and repeatable process for quality assurance (QA) across all areas of the organization including product development 

Build team and drive engineering culture 

  • Build a team of capable engineers, developing the careers and technical capabilities of all team members
  • Cultivate a strong culture of experimentation, delivery and impact
  • Identify, validate and manage collaboration with 3rd party services and resources where required 

You should have: 

  • A mission-resonance and deep passion towards creating a better world for the future generations 
  • Experience as a full stack engineer with expertise in at least 2-3 languages and frameworks
  • Built products 0-1 or end-to-end from initial concept to market launch and testing and iteration, for instance at startups or digital consultancies
  • Worked with senior corporate stakeholders and/or familiar working in corporate environments  
  • Experience building mobile apps - hybrid or progressive web apps
  • Proven ability to hire, mentor and lead engineering teams  
  • Worked collaboratively and mobilized multiple stakeholders across multiple disciplines to drive desired outcomes
  • Excellent communication and coherence of thought to be able to distil and explain complex technical concepts to general audiences 

Additional desired competencies: 

  • Experience with Node, React, Python, REST APIs, Azure
  • Familiarity with AR
  • Experience in EdTech or related fields
