For this exciting position, we are looking for an Engagement Specialist Co-op who can assist our Citizen Development practice (Citizen Development is the practice where non-technical users create business applications using low-code or no-code platforms, bridging the gap between IT and business needs). This position is perfect for someone with a curiosity for cloud platforms and with the ability to craft effective communications and engagement activities for individuals of a diverse set of technical backgrounds. We are specifically looking for an individual with excellent interpersonal skills, technically savvy, quick to learn, and comfortable working individually and in a group setting.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures. 
  • Actively engage with the Digital Maker community at Teck through our corporate channels (Yammer, Teams, SharePoint, etc.) to raise awareness of the tool and share success stories.  
  • Simplify technical language into plain English, using an informal and friendly tone.  
  • Reviewing content, providing comments and proofreading. 
  • Ensure communication materials align with corporate communications branding guidelines. 
  • Support the nurturing of a community excited to innovate and experiment across Teck.  
  • Basic design support (training, internal communications, presentations, social posts, posters). 

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a Business, Communications program, or a related field of study with an accredited co-op program. 
  • Experience or interest in developing content, including research, writing and editing. 
  • Proficient in working across a variety of programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft 365. 
  • An understanding or curiosity on Cloud Platforms and Citizen Development would be an asset 
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to maintain and ensure accuracy. 
  • Be an effective storyteller, able to bring across the human touch of stories of empowerment and innovation 
  • Able to problem solve, stay organized and manage multiple assignments. 
  • Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. 
  • Previous experience in video capture and editing (iMovie, Camtasia, or other video editing software) is an asset. 
  • Familiarity in graphic design in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or other similar programs is an asset. 
  • Able to work effectively independently as well as part of the team. 
  • Proven ability to learn innovative technologies and platforms quickly, accurately, and efficiently. 
  • Ability to communicate with precision in a technical environment. 
  • Able to articulate complex concepts clearly and in a way a diverse audience would understand.
