Primary Function of Position
- The position will provide advice and counsel on a broad range of employment-related matters, conduct legal research and writing, manage employment legal issues and risks and support legal interventions, support, oversee, and/or conduct legal employment investigations as assigned, This position will support, collaborate with, and provide guidance to employees at all levels, organizational leaders, HR and multiple enabling functions. Work will be conducted in alignment with company compliance objectives and adhering to all policies and values. This position requires deep familiarity with and working knowledge of employment laws and regulations federally, and throughout the US, particularly California and Georgia. This position will also support global employment matters as assigned and international experience or interest is highly preferred.
Essential Job Duties
- Monitor changes in employment laws and regulations and advise on necessary updates to company policies and practices.
- Advise on employment issues, including hiring, performance management, disciplinary actions, terminations, restructures, and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Provide guidance on workplace investigations and conduct workplace investigations as needed or assigned.
- Provide guidance on HR employee lifecycle and employee relations matters.
- Support response to employee escalations and employment demand letters.
- Conduct training sessions on employment law topics and company policies.
- Support employment litigation team and/or manage litigation, as assigned, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination disputes.
- Legal research and writing in support of proactive risk mitigation or issue support.
- Continuously evaluate and update relevant processes and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with other members of the legal team and cross-functional departments to support the company’s overall business objectives.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, providing clear and practical legal advice.
- Ability to communicate and work productively with external and opposing counsel.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5 to 7 years employment legal experience, and preferably experience in high-technology or medical device industry.
- Deep familiarity with and working knowledge of employment laws and regulations federally, and throughout the US, particularly California and Georgia.
- Strong legal research, writing and oral communication skills.
- High level of integrity and professional ethics.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to build effective working relationships across the organization.
- Exceptional organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously within a rapidly changing and work under tight deadlines.
- Proven track record of successful negotiations and mediations
- Ability to develop and implement cross-functional processes.
- Active membership in good standing the Bar of residence.
Required Education and Training
- Minimum JD degree from an ABA accredited law school
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Several years of law firm experience preferred.
- Familiarity with employment litigation and advocacy a plus.
- Global employment law experience or significant interest in global employment law experience.

It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
