About the Engineering Team-EDGE

Comprised of embedded/hardware, and Full-stack engineers, the EDGE Team’s mission is to acquire high fidelity data from our sensors to help customers enhance operational efficiency and manage energy while fighting climate change. We organize as an agile workflow in 2 week sprints.
At Verdigris, you will explore rich energy datasets through our advanced IoT-connected sensors. You will have a unique opportunity as an embedded engineer to extend our understanding of buildings by improving the capabilities of our sensors. About the Role

As an Embedded System Engineer, you will ensure the stability and robustness of new product features. Collaborating closely with our U.S.-based team is critical to your success. Embedded design is literally our eyes and ears. We enhance the way our customers use electrical resources within buildings. The delivery of energy intelligence relies on knowing what’s physically happening in a building. These measurement points will be crafted by passionate people like you.

Responsibilities

  • Embedded Software Test: Debug and build tests for firmware, Board Support Packages, and drivers to deliver stability and robustness to our existing product.
  • Deployment support: Support our deployments through remote/onsite servicing and rigorous testing.
  • Team Growth: Your contributions to our team aren’t just technical. Help us develop team processes for transparent workflows. Learn, Grow, and Lead.

Qualifications

  • You hold an advanced degree (BS or MS) in Computer Science, Information Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • You have knowledge of the Embedded Linux build and package management.
  • You are skilled with kernel module and driver development.
  • You are familiar with IoT communication frameworks.
  • You embrace paired programming, test-driven development, and modern testing methods
  • You have experience with electrical designs, reading, and understanding schematics.
  • You are familiar with C/C++, Python and shell scripting.
  • You have a working knowledge of network communications (TCP/IP, UDP, sockets, security).
  • You have the ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • You are able to give and accept feedback.
  • You can self-manage and prioritize time.

Preferred Qualification

  • You have at least 3 years of experience in embedded software/firmware development
  • You speak English at a professional level
  • Experience guiding teams and establishing best practices
  • You have personal GitHub pages projects, hackathon participation, open source contributions… show us something that you’re proud of!
  • You deploy your work using Cloud Computing infrastructure (AWS, Heroku)
