The electricians provide electrical maintenance services for campus buildings, equipment and facilities.
This is a full time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $31.27-$39.10 per hour. The anticipated start date for this position is January 2025.
Core Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoots, repairs, renovates, installs, operates, maintains all electrical systems and equipment as directed, coordinating with other trades or contractors as needed.
- Performs life safety and fire alarm system inspections, testing, and repairs in accordance with State and National code requirements.
- Performs departmental assistance needs as requested, including but not limited to, event set up and clean up, snow removal, loading unloading of trucks, and grounds maintenance.
- Works cooperatively with others and accepts direction from supervisor.
- Performs all duties in safe, professional manner in accordance with Middlebury College and departmental polices and procedures.
- Procures necessary materials to perform work and asks for assistance if needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned to assist the department in obtaining and maintaining its mission.
Requirements
- Current State of Vermont Master Electrician's license, have or ability to obtain Technically Qualified Person (TQP) fire alarm systems.
- A minimum of 4 years of progressively complex experience in Electrical trade is required; 10 years is preferred.
- Driver’s license with clean driving record required, must provide own vehicle for transportation of self, tools and procuring small materials.
- Must be available for emergency maintenance calls on evenings and weekends according to rotational schedule.
- Good interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work independently or with a team.
- Furnishes hand tools for electrical work.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Must be available for flexible shifts and overtime as required, ability to work Saturdays and Sundays as part of regular or rotating shifts, may require some overtime. Requires frequent standing, squatting, climbing stairs and ladders, twisting, reaching, pushing or pulling.
