In this role, you will be a key player in the development and testing of cutting-edge energy recovery technologies. You will work closely with engineers in a lab environment to construct and operate test loops for new products across all our product lines. This hands-on position demands a strong understanding of electrical principles, proficiency with various test equipment, and in-depth knowledge of instrumentation and controls, particularly with a focus on the practical aspects of wiring and configuring these systems. Responsibilities
  • Test Loop Construction: Design, build, and maintain test loops, including the selection, installation, and wiring of instrumentation and control components such as sensors, actuators, valves, and controllers.
  • This includes: Interpreting P&IDs and electrical schematics to accurately connect devices.
  • Selecting and installing appropriate wiring, connectors, and cabling for various signals and environments.
  • Ensuring proper grounding and shielding to minimize noise and interference.
  • Instrumentation & Controls: Configure and calibrate a wide range of instrumentation and control devices, including pressure sensors, flow meters, temperature transmitters, and control valves.
  • Data Acquisition & Analysis: Set up and operate data acquisition systems to collect and analyze test data from various sensors and instruments.
  • This includes: Selecting appropriate sampling rates and data logging parameters.
  • Using software tools to visualize and analyze data, identify trends, and generate reports.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve issues related to instrumentation, control systems, and electrical circuits within the test loop.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers to define test parameters, execute test plans, and analyze results.
  • Safety & Documentation: Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Accurately document test setups, procedures, and results.
  • Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent technical certification.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as an Electrical Test Technician, with a strong emphasis on building and operating test loops in a product development or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in wiring and configuring instrumentation and control systems.
  • Solid understanding of electrical principles, including AC/DC circuits, signal transmission, and grounding techniques.
  • Proficiency in using various electrical test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and analysis software.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation systems (PLCs, DCS) is a plus.
  • The salary range for this role is $93,080 to $104,286/year with bonus opportunity, equity grant, and other perks. The stated range is the range that we reasonably believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. This range may be modified in the future.
