Electrical Engineering Internship (Power - Substation)

Milhouse Engineering and Construction is looking for a full-time Electrical Engineering Intern that will be working with our Power – Substation team! 
 
This summer, you will have the opportunity to work with some of the top utility companies across the country! This internship is designed to provide hands-on exposure to various aspects of substation design, including protection systems, panel layout and wiring design, and compliance with industry standards. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, interns will contribute to real-world projects, enhance their technical skills, and develop a deeper understanding of electrical power systems.

What you will do:

  • Work with a Designer/Drafter to create the required drawings for specific projects. 
  • Contribute to the preparation of engineering drawings and schematics using CAD software. 
  • Develop bill of materials based on design criteria. 
  • Three-line AC schematic design. 
  • Panel layout and wiring design. 
  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate project activities and resolve technical issues. 
  • DC protection schematic design. 
  • Performing AC/DC calculations upon job requirements. 
  • Attend team meetings weekly or bi-weekly. 
  • Assist with designing to client and regulatory requirements. 

What we are looking for:

  • Strong academic background with coursework in power systems and control systems. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate in a team environment. 
  • Enthusiasm for learning and a passion for contributing to the field of electrical engineering. 
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Prior internship or project experience related to power systems or electrical infrastructure is preferred but not required. 

Your background:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is preferred. 
  • Completion of two years or more of engineering classwork at an ABET accredited institution.
