Colby Co. Engineering (Colby Co.) is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their multi-disciplinary team of 70+ employees serving clients throughout the United States.  
 
This position can be hybrid or fully remote for the right candidate located in the Northeast.  
 
Colby Co. Engineering is a privately held, multi-disciplinary team of engineers (civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, fire protection) and architects who work together on a wide range of projects from new construction, historical building renovations to facilities engineering and infrastructure. All team members are at "the table" from day one working collaboratively.  All team members serve an equal role providing, receiving, and sharing input to provide the client with the most efficient and effective overall design that meets or exceeds their needs.  In addition, team members can work, make decisions, and structure their time autonomously while also having the resources and backup of teammates to share ideas and collaborate.

Requirements of the Electrical Engineer:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology. 
  • PE License a plus but not required. 
  • 5+ years of building and industrial experience in a consulting engineering design firm setting.  
  • Experience with Federal and Government projects a plus. 
  • Experience with a broad range of electrical engineering designs such as power distribution, control, communication, and lighting design including evaluation of existing power and control systems, electrical specifications, lighting, and load calculations. 
  • Track record of successful design, quality control and construction administration.  
  • Be a quick, flexible thinker and problem-solver who is accustomed to working in fluid teams on tight deadlines. 
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or BIM/Revit a plus. 
  • Ability to obtain government clearances.

Responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer:

  • Research, plan and design a variety of electrical systems for buildings and structures for government, industrial and commercial clients.  
  • Prepare code compliant plans and coordinate drawings for a broad range of designs including power distribution, control, communication, and lighting design. Projects also include evaluation of existing power and control systems, electrical specifications, lighting, and load calculations. 
  • Work collaboratively on multidisciplinary design teams, primarily in-house but also with subconsultants. 
  • Collaborate with all disciplines to prepare presentations and produce documents from schematic design through to the construction phase. 
  • Conduct and document site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI’s.
