In 2021, Samsung announced a new facility in Taylor, Texas, where it plans to invest a minimum $17 billion in the build-out. The site spans 1,200+ acres and the first phase of development will have 4.7 million square feet of floor space consisting of a cluster of semiconductor manufacturing buildings such as a fab, office, parking garage, central utility building, and special utility supply facilities. The Taylor facility will boost the production of semiconductor solutions that will power next-generation technologies in areas like 5G, artificial intelligence (AI) and high performance computing.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Job Summary/Overview:

 

Electrical Engineer responsible for managing and overseeing new electrical design and construction projects.
Responsible for project code compliance, safety, and system integration with multiple construction disciplines.
Responsible for project documentation control, performance reporting, and risk mitigation.
Manage schedule, cost and quality of contractor and subcontractor work through all phases of project delivery.

 

Specific Job Duties:

Manage and support building planning and design for Electrical systems related to new and retrofit construction.
Maintain and report project information with internal and external project stakeholders such as EHS, Facilities Operations and Maintenance, and engineering teams related to the project scope.
Organize and schedule meetings and present project updates to management teams as the single point of contact.
Manage project schedule, cost and quality of work performed by contractors by identifying, tracking, resolving and communicating project issues during all phases of project-related work.
Facilitate team documentation and development of site facilities construction specifications and standard operating procedures.
Coordinating continuous improvement of Electrical installations and performing regular site field observation for implementation of best practices and development of new project work.
Review and report scope change requests related to cost and schedule.
Review, approve, monitor, and communicate all ongoing design and construction work
Respond to and review countermeasures for safety and fab impacting incidents as they occur.
Proactively perform risk mitigating through all aspects of the project scope to improve safety and maintain code compliance.
Present and report project and team status to department management.


Skills and Qualifications:

Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required

4-year degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering at an ABET accredited institution.
Minimum 5 years of Electrical design and project experience focused on process systems in an industrial setting.
3+ years in a construction setting and experience in Petrochemical or Semiconductor industries is preferred.
Working knowledge of IBC, IFC, and other codes and standards applicable to process system design and construction.
Registered Professional Engineer in state of Texas, or registered in another state with ability to transfer is a plus.
PMP certification is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, and Tools

Experience managing and leading Electrical projects during design, specification development, and construction administration.
Hands on detailed engineering, design and construction management experience for industrial systems.
Working knowledge of industrial utility systems design and operation.
Strong creative problem-solving skills, leadership potential, and a desire to contribute to leading-edge planning and optimization projects with aggressive goals and timelines.
Experience with Microsoft Excel for data analysis including Pivot Tables, Microsoft Project, ETAP/SKM knowledge of coordination/arc flash analysis, AutoCAD.
Ability to read and understand design plans, shop drawings, single lines and review work in progress.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills are required to effectively communicate technical content to various organizations.
Permanent right to work in US and ability to work overtime / on non-scheduled days as required.
