Electrical Design Verification Test Engineer

We are seeking candidates who take pride in driving and sustaining product development through manufacturing. This team is the Electrical Design Validation Testing team, responsible for ensuring functionality of electrical components of Arista products. This role will be responsible for writing software scripts that automates the testing of Arista products, and supports the Design Verification team with testing: 2/3 of time spent testing, other 1/3 programming/writing scripts.

  • Perform Electrical or Hardware Design Verification Tests (EDVT or DVT)
  • Configure electrical test equipment and Arista Network Switches 
  • Develop and execute system and component level test plans
  • Develop and execute Python test scripts to perform EDVT
  • Support sustaining qualification
  • Find and resolve EDVT issues early in the development cycle by actively working with the diagnostic and hardware design teams
  • Closely interface/engage with cross functional product teams (HW, SW, NPIE, MFG, PM) to address any EDVT dependencies to meet the project milestones
  • 2-5+ years of hands on industry experience in hardware/electrical validation (Networking - Cisco/Juniper great; Electronics/Devices/Storage/etc. is good)
    • SMBus/PCIE knowledge (protocol device on the system that communicates with different peripherals, this is related to Electrical Engineering)
    • Hardware experience required: Debugging FRUs (optics, DAC, power supplies, etc), lab experience with electrical test equipment (Keysight DCA, Chroma power meters)
    • Experience with IEEE 802.3 C2M spec and test methodology
    • Strong understanding of electrical eye diagrams for NRZ and Pam4 signaling
  • Proven experience multitasking projects (4-5 at the same time)
  • Experience working in Linux environments (Unix/Windows ok)
  • Experience scripting ability (Python preferred; Shell/TCL/Except ok)
    • Need to have proven experience creating scripts from scratch that connect various servers/devices together, not just modifying single lines of code.
    • Fundamental understanding of OOP, and data analytics libraries (Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib)  
  • Excellent knowledge of complex system level debugging and root cause analysis (i.e. understanding interrelated components working together in hardware and finding the issue that is causing an error)
  • Ability to carry and move 15-30 pounds (for transporting/handling large systems/hardware)
  • Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Science Degree

Nice to have skills:

  • Experience in Telnet/SSH - a way to connect to computers/servers remotely 
  • Familiar with PCB schematics and board layout

This is a one year contract to hire role, with hourly pay range $65 to $105 per hour. The actual pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and US location.
