Milhouse is seeking an Electrical/Communications Engineer who will be involved in the digital modernization transit hubs system project for Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. This position is key to providing the link between construction in the field and the office PM team. You will ensure construction activities are compliant with Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority requirements.

These requirements include, providing reviews of Electrical and Communications related submittals and reviewing design documents. Also, assist in closeout activities, such as, as-builts reviews, operations and maintenance manuals reviews, and provide technical support for the project delivery team.

What you will do:

  • Monitor construction work to ensure it is performed in accordance with contract plans, specifications, and within the approved schedule.
  • Supervise the field inspection.
  • Serve as primary contact between construction contractor and the project owner.
  • Provide weekly progress reports to the project owner; review inspector daily reports and verify pay quantities.
  • Review and comment on project schedules and schedule updates.
  • Manage changes on the project; review independent cost estimates and provide recommendations to the owner.
  • Monitor the construction contractor for conformance with safety requirements.
  • Addition of new signage to improve the customer experience and make riders more informed when it comes to making decisions in regards to selecting what mode of transport to take.

Your background:

  • Electrical or communications engineering degree preferred.
  • Relevant degrees include Civil: Construction or Transportation, Electrical, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering.  
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Transit project experience.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.
  • Will to work flexible hours (construction often occurring at night)
  • Familiar with implementing construction contracts, drawings, and specifications.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), advantageous.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM), advantageous.
  • P.E. is advantageous.

Additional information:

  • Candidate must be able to complete WMATA Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) Level 1 and Level 2 training.
  • Limited night time work may be required.
