Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers for 100 miles at speeds of up to 150 mph while producing minimal noise.

Job Title: Electric Engine Software Engineer
Worksite: San Jose, CA
Salary Range: $240,000 to $255,000 per year

What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct development and verification for certifiable safety critical software components of the
    aircraft motor control system software. 
  • Participate in the definition and documentation of streamlined software development and
    verification processes supporting the certification of safety critical software to comply with DO-
    178C.
  • Work with systems engineers to decompose item requirements into high-level and low-level
    software requirements in compliance with DO-178C.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop, integrate, verify and certify complex
    hardware/software systems.
  • Foster team collaboration to promote and support personal development.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering,
Computer Science, or related degree with 5 years as Propulsion Control System Engineer; Electric Engine
Software Engineer; Embedded Firmware Engineer; Embedded Software Engineer; Software Engineer;
Firmware Engineer; Control Engineer; System Engineer; Control System Engineer, or any related
occupation or job title in which experience with the following was gained: Software Development and
programming with C++, MATLAB, or Python; Software development for real-time control systems or
embedded systems; Design and implementation control algorithms for propulsion systems; and system
design.


ALTERNATE EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer
Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have knowledge of Propulsion Systems, including knowledge of
different types of electric motors, their working principles, and their control mechanisms. Must have
knowledge of control theory, feedback control, system modeling, and analysis.
