About the Team: 

The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) team is responsible for risk management and compliance to support frontline operations, manufacturing processes, and test and launch campaigns. We develop programs, processes, controls, and other solutions to empower all Relativity employees to drive our safety culture and prevent injuries in the workplace while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The EHS team leads efforts in creating an environment that fosters safety and operational excellence for our employees at Relativity Space. About the Role: 

The EHS Manager, Test Operations position will lead the department’s effort alongside our world-class propulsion and vehicle test team at the historic Stennis Space Center. We are looking for a “self-starter” who excels in uncertain situations and enjoys taking on challenging goals. This individual should have a practical approach, demonstrated expertise in creating an expandable EHS program for a specific location or organization, and a strong sense of responsibility for daily EHS activities, projects, and initiatives. The EHS Manager, Test Operations will partner with the Stennis test site stakeholders to develop and build a comprehensive compliance strategy and develop our world-class safety culture further. They will oversee EHS personnel at our Stennis Facilities and Test Complexes. Additionally, this person will be responsible for the following: 

  • Developing policies, programs, and guidance based on corporate objectives to match test-site hazards 
  • Developing key partnerships with test personnel to support EHS programs and initiatives 
  • Partnering with Relativity environmental engineering teams to develop and execute compliance requirements, primarily related to environmental inspections, air emissions, hazardous waste, and industrial wastewater discharges 
  • Partnering closely with Stennis leadership to grow our world-class safety culture 
  • Working closely with engineers to design safe systems into novel test systems and processes 
  • Facilitating and providing EHS training, including fall protection, lead hazard awareness, confined space, LOTO, among others 
  • Maintaining compliance with applicable local, state, and federal safety regulations such as OSHA and AFSPCMAN 91-710 
  • Being present on-site daily to identify hazards and drive corrective actions to eliminate or mitigate future hazards 
  • Leading root cause investigations for incidents and injuries that may occur 
  • Coaching and mentoring employees in safe work practices and policies 
  • Providing EHS oversight over construction contractors 
  • Ability to travel up to 15% 

About You: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental sciences, occupational health and safety, or a related technical discipline 
  • 5+ years of EHS experience in propulsion test services, launch, oil and gas, construction, chemical production, or a related industry, with proven proficiency in health and safety topics, including but not limited to: Confined Spaces, Lockout/Tagout, Pressure Safety Systems, Critical Lift Operations, Welding, Machine Guarding and Automation Safety, Arc Flash/Electrical Safety, Fire and Life Safety, Flammable Liquids, Chemical Management and Industrial Hygiene
  • 3+ years of experience as a people manager
  • Current CSP, CIH, CES, CEP, or other professional environmental certification

Nice to have but not required: 

  • Master’s degree in public health, engineering, occupational health and safety, or other related degree program 
  • Proficient project manager with the ability to juggle and execute multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Experience in Jira, Confluence, Tableau, Power BI, and Github
