The EHS Manager identifies and anticipates environment, safety and health concerns and hazards by surveying environmental, operational, and occupational conditions. The EHS Manager guides and promotes safe work performance by developing safety systems, policies, procedures, safety campaigns, communications, and recognitions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic
Defining, reviewing, and updating the company’s corporate Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) standards, and guidelines, providing necessary technical support to ensure that all applicable standards are implemented across the organization, and periodically monitoring the progress
Sound knowledge and capable to guide and influence EHS Regulatory Compliances at any point of time.
Advocate for effective legislations, regulations and industry standards that will proactively manage EHS impacts to operations, the community and the environment
Implementing the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) strategy, standards and policies in line with the statutory & regulatory requirements
Implementing the regional EHS initiatives across the country’s facilities with the support of the cross-functional team
Ensuring compliance with all applicable legislations pertaining to Safety, Health, and Environment across the organization
Developing and implementing a framework for the management of safety risks to enable the business to make informed decisions
Providing regular updates and inputs to the top management of the organization for all decisions pertaining to functional operations to help them take effective decisions
Driving and developing the EHS compliance culture in the organization
Operational
Driving an effective EHS risk assessment and recommending the mitigation initiatives and controls across the organization
Conducting periodical reviews to discuss organization-wide EHS-related issues, EHS awareness improvement programs, and overall EHS function performance
Investigating and analyzing the incidents/ accidents within the organization and monitoring the implementation of the corrective actions
Liaisoning with the relevant government authorities, chambers, organizations, consultants, etc., and maintaining professional relationships.
Designing and implementing the EHS training programs for all employees of the organization
Developing the EHS communication strategy for the organization to ensure effective dissemination of information with respect to the implementation of EHS norms, EHS issues, corrective measures, etc. to internal and external stakeholders such as management, regulatory authorities, financial investors, and general public
Developing the plans and procedures with clear roles and responsibilities designated to ensure preparedness and speedy organizational response to incidents/accidents in emergency situations
Well versed in softwares like Enablon, iAuditor (safety Culture), Compliance Management Softwares.
Active reporting of Incidents, Investigation and CAPA implementation in a structured approach
Financial
Developing the annual budget for EHS function and ensuring adherence to the same through quarterly / monthly review. Formulating corrective action plans for deviations, if any
Ensuring the effective implementation of the proposed risk mitigation framework to minimize the potential impact on profitability
People
Monitoring the performance of the team on a continuous basis and giving periodic feedback for the development of team members
Mentoring and coaching the plant EHS leads to develop their capabilities and building a robust succession pipeline
Providing guidance and support to team members, as and when required
Fostering an environment of learning, excellence, and teamwork across the function
Customer Satisfaction
Driving customer satisfaction (both internal and external)
The role is responsible for formulating Health & Safety strategy, standards and guidelines and driving the implementation of the same across the organization with the objective of creating an environment of ‘zero is achievable’, in the organization and providing support for compliance to all applicable legislations pertaining to health, safety, environment, and sustainability.

Qualifications
B.E. in Mechanical/Electrical/ Chemical with professional qualification in EHS
Experience: 15+ years of relevant experience
Experience in interpreting global EHS laws, standards, and policy and transforming them into country/ region policy, programs, and management systems.
Expertise in relevant EHS management, technical, engineering, or scientific disciplines.
Knowledge of world-class industry, manufacturing, business, or EHS practices.
Experience in global EHS affairs and cultural diversity.
Proven excellence in leading MNC plants
Strong influential and motivating skills.
Experience in diverse and global work culture.
Ability to interact with and effectively communicate with all levels of management.
Excellent mentoring, organizational development, and talent management skills are required.
