Position Description
The Data Analyst will work on cross-functional data streams as part of the central data analytics team at Rocketship Public schools. Initially, the data analyst will primarily support work to transition our data architecture from a vendor’s manage data warehouse to the organization's new data architecture. This will include tasks such as building data models and data sources, updating visualizations, supporting the rebuild of ETL pipeline, and documenting systems.
Essential Functions
- Gather requirements from stakeholders and technical documentation from data vendors and provide initial data schema solutions.
- Build data models and data sources in in DBT
- Build and rebuild Looker and Tableau visualizations under the new data architecture
- Use dagster to support data orchestration and ETL pipelines
- Document data systems for internal and end user support
- Administrate security access controls to secure both data and systems
Required Qualifications
- At least one year of professional experience in a data field.
- Experience writing code to create data sources for visualization.
- An ability to critically think WITH stakeholders and iteratively create the solution they NEED (as opposed to the one they initially want).
- Ability to clearly document data systems and organize the documentation for internal technical support and end users.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with K-12 Education data
- Proven success in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Specific coding skill in R, Python and SQL
- Experience with visualization tools Tableau and Looker
- Experience with ETL tools DBT and Dagster
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in mathematics, computer science, economics or statistics.
- Experience with Google BigQuery
- Experience using code repository software to maintain code and version control
- Experience administrating security access controls to secure both data and systems
- Preferred location in San Francisco Bay Area, Washington DC, Milwaukee or Nashville.
