Doula

About us

Pomelo Care is a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, engineers and problem solvers who are passionate about improving care for moms and babies. We are transforming outcomes for pregnant people and babies with evidence-based pregnancy and newborn care at scale. Our technology-driven care platform enables us to engage patients early, conduct individualized risk assessments for poor pregnancy outcomes, and deliver coordinated, personalized virtual care throughout pregnancy, NICU stays, and the first postpartum year. We measure ourselves by reductions in preterm births, NICU admissions, c-sections and maternal mortality; we improve outcomes and reduce healthcare spend.

Your North Star: Provide and facilitate amazing patient-centered doula support to our patients.

We are currently hiring for the following shift:

  • Monday-Friday 10am-7pm ET.  Some weekend and holiday availability may be needed.

We are hiring for a teammate to provide virtual doula support to our pregnant and postpartum patients in Georgia. In this role, you will work closely with members of our interdisciplinary clinical team to engage perinatal patients and provide pregnancy and delivery-related support at the right time. Doula support may be provided via text, phone, or video calls.

In the role, you will:

  • Partner with patients to identify pregnancy goals, address barriers to care  (e.g., transportation, housing, food insecurity), and drive the execution of their birth and postpartum plans
  • Provide one-on-one virtual doula care via chat based messaging, phone and video calls.  Examples of support include physiologic changes of pregnancy; labor and birth process; birth / self advocacy; birth planning; relaxation, mediation, positioning, and breathing techniques in labor; high level breastfeeding and lactation support; virtual doula support prior to hospital admission (safely keeping patients at home in labor longer); postpartum plan (planning ahead: identifying support team, plan for sleep/rest, emotional health, maintaining the household, managing visitors, goals for physical recovery)
  • Conduct thorough perinatal follow-ups with patients virtually, ensuring seamless continuity of care and facilitating access to essential support services tailored to their individual needs
  • Connect patients to community-based resources, empowering them to address various psychosocial needs with the support of local services
  • Cultivate robust partnerships in the community to expand our network of trusted resources to which we can confidently refer patients, and keep our resource guide up-to-date with a list of resources across a full range of social drivers of health needs
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team (e.g., OB providers, RNs, IBCLCs, dietitians, care coordinators, therapists, etc.) to ensure comprehensive and integrated care for patients throughout their perinatal journey
  • Reduce care gaps (missed appointments, medication management, etc.) through frequent engagements with patients and internal referrals to clinicians as needed
  • Ensure prompt, accurate documentation of all patient interactions and escalate to care team members when necessary
  • Support the development of programs and product by providing user feedback

Who you are:

  • Certified doula with 5+ years of active doula experience within the previous 7 years in the state of Georgia
  • Internet-connected, able to work remotely via video, phone, and text
  • Able to provide remote perinatal support, childbirth education, and birth doula support to pregnant and postpartum patients
  • Understand the prevalence and role that birth inequity and structural racism play in maternal morbidity and mortality
  • Experience with navigating local community resources and programs
  • Experience providing empathetic, culturally humble care
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building, and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize across multiple tasks
  • Facile with email, spreadsheets, and willingness to work with new software
  • Flexible and agile thinker who embraces change

Bonus points if:

  • You have experience providing virtual care or working in a fast-paced environment such as a high-growth company or startup
  • You have experience working with perinatal patients who have had pregnancy related diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, perinatal loss, etc.
