As a District School Leader for Bezos Academy, you will be responsible for managing, supporting, and developing school leaders and a regional team towards improving outcomes for children as part of a growing multi-state network of high quality, tuition-free, Montessori-inspired preschools in under-resourced communities. The District School Leader will support partnership development, new school launches, ongoing school operations, and community engagement. You will also support our People Team in identifying and recruiting a strong pool of highly skilled teachers and school leaders that are committed to our mission. You will bring significant school and/or district leadership experience, knowledge of child development, management experience, exceptional communication skills, and experience working with families and leaders from diverse community areas. Above all, you demonstrate passion for our mission to expand access to high quality preschool in under-resourced communities.  

In this role, your top priority is to ensure that our school leaders and teams have the support, tools, and resources needed to engage families and support the development of every child. You will work collaboratively with fellow colleagues to support an impactful learning community for our school teams. You will oversee the operational excellence at each school site and provide ongoing support to Heads of School (escalated inquiries, emergencies, etc.). As District School Leader, you will conduct regular school visits and provide ongoing support, coaching, and mentorship to our Heads of School.

We are actively hiring for a District School Leader in Louisville, KY.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, salaried position. 
  • The full salary range for this position is $110,000 – $176,000 per year. The upper third of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who have been in the role for multiple years and demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by qualifications and prior experience.
  • This role includes 22 paid days of scheduled breaks, 7 paid days of vacation, 3 paid days of personal time off, 7 paid days of sick (care) time, 10 paid holidays, and additional time off if required by applicable law. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Ten or more years of relevant experience, including five or more combined years of experience as a school leader or in network/district leadership positions (e.g. Head of School, Center Director, Assistant Superintendent, Area Director)
  • Track record of delivering results and developing staff as a school/district leader
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Two or more years prior work experience with children and families in low-income communities in the US AND/OR significant personal experience in low-income communities in the US (grew up and/or attended school in)
  • Experience, teaching or similar, working directly with children aged 0 to 3rd grade with strong outcomes
  • Strong personal commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and significant experience building relationships across lines of difference 
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to local partners and schools

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Experience working in the early childhood education sector (childcare, preschool, pre-k, etc.)
  • Experience and proven results from coaching and developing school leaders
  • Experience managing a multi-site network of schools or childcare centers, including hiring, managing, coaching, and evaluation
  • Instructional or leadership experience working with children aged 0 to 3rd grade with special needs
  • MACTE-accredited Primary (ages 3-6) Montessori certification and teaching experience
  • Experience leading the opening of a new school site with multiple classrooms successfully or comparable start-up leadership experience

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Manage and develop Heads of Schools and regional support staff, resulting in exceptional outcomes for children
  • Support new school launches, partnership development, and community engagement in your region
  • Identify and recruit a strong pool of highly skilled Head of Schools and teaching team candidates who are committed to a standard of excellence and can bring results
  • Provide regular feedback and coaching to support Heads of Schools in achieving goals in their development plan
  • Manage team administration and operations, including making sure that all team members are held accountable for meeting expectations
  • Serve as liaison to Bezos Academy’s National Support Team to effectively communicate progress and advocate for local needs
  • Monitor each school’s operational performance and compliance, resolve open issues, and ensure Head of School time can be focused on instructional leadership and building positive school cultures
  • Facilitate the building and strengthening of relationships across the regional Head of School cohort
  • Lead or support national projects to improve or innovate on curriculum, student recruitment, family and student engagement, community programs and school operations
