Director/VP of Software Engineering

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Boston office.

Our solutions improve loss ratios and profitability by predicting underwriting and claim risks with greater accuracy, as well as reducing quote turnaround times and claim expenses through intelligent automation. Gradient AI’s SaaS platform leverages a vast industry data lake comprising tens of millions of policies and claims, providing insurers with high-resolution, data-driven insights. Customers include some of the most recognized insurance carriers, MGAs, MGUs, TPAs, risk pools, PEOs, and large self-insured employers across all major lines of insurance. Founded in 2018, Gradient has experienced strong growth every year, and recently raised $56 million in Series C funding from top Insurtech investors.

How will you make an impact:

  • Grow and build a world-class engineering team 
  • Participate in high-level design decisions and execute on them.  
  • Work closely with data engineering and data science teams to create integrated automated processes that support a robust ML Ops workflows.
  • Be a technical interface for our client executive team and partners to implement clients. 

Skills needed to succeed:  

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience with at least 6+ years managing mentoring developers and managers. 
  • Strong track record building successful commercial software products and supporting those products over multiple releases.  
  • Proven track record in growing an engineering team, measuring the success of the team, and identifying and developing top talent on the team.  
  • Experience evolving engineering processes as the team grows, leveraging different development methodologies based on the needs of the business and team. 
  • Proven track record of collaboration with other departments, partners and clients to support product adoption and product usage.
  • Demonstrated business savvy and the ability to work with other parts of the business to help make appropriate tradeoffs. 
  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies and architectures, AWS is plus.
  • Experience working in Insurtech or on AI/ML products is plus.
