Director, Solutions Engineering

About the Job:

We are looking for an Americas Director of Solution Engineering to join our team at LaunchDarkly. You will manage a team of Solution Engineer (SE) leaders and senior individual contributors who are technical experts and trusted advisors for our customers and prospects. This role will report into the SVP of Customer Experience. Solution Engineers help qualify and close opportunities through sales presentations, product demonstrations and Proof of Values (POVs). You will take an active role in the Americas region for supporting pre-sale customer facing activities and engagements, creating processes to help scale and standardize across the globe and coach and develop your team. You will ensure tight collaboration and knowledge sharing across our broader go-to market teams and product teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of high performing and diverse SE leaders and ICs in the Americas
  • Partner with the Sales team to articulate our value proposition, vision and strategy to customers leading to revenue attainment against quota
  • Advise our customers on software development best practices and how to leverage LaunchDarkly to accelerate innovation
  • Actively iterate the team to excellence for high productivity, onboarding and ongoing enablement and technical skills
  • Work cross-functionally with other internal stakeholders in post sales, product, engineering, platform, and marketing to provide customer insight and potential improvements of products and services
  • Lead and assist in recruiting efforts to find and hire top talent within your region
  • Deliver performance reviews and executing on individual development plans

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in a technical or related field.
  • Proven 5+ years experience leading a presales field engineering team, focusing on defining, developing and managing customer demos and evaluations
  • Familiarity of MEDDICC / Command of the Message or similar qualification framework
  • Deep understanding of DevOps industry trends and tooling
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate and build relationships with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities and requirements
  • Travel up to 30%

Pay:

Target pay ranges based on Geographic Zones* for Level M4:

  • Zone 1: San Francisco/Bay Area or New York City Metropolitan Area (if not Bay area specific role): $263,000 - $309,000** On Target Earnings (OTE) includes base pay and commission
  • Zone 2: Boston, DC, Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Seattle: $236,000 - $278,000** On Target Earnings (OTE) includes base pay and commission
  • Zone 3: All other US locations: $223,000 - $263,000** On Target Earnings (OTE) includes base pay and commission

LaunchDarkly operates from a place of high trust and transparency; we are happy to state the pay range for our open roles to best align with your needs. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.

*Within the United States, our geographic pay zones are defined by counties surrounding major metropolitan areas.
