Who You Are:
As the Director, Regulatory Affairs, you will be responsible for ensuring the compliance of Supergoop! Products to FDA OTC, Global and regional compliance where applicable (i.e Health Canada, EU registrations etc.) and to work synergistically with General Counsel to ensure all claims are substantiated for the brand’s total product portfolio - existing, and new product.
This role is critical in ensuring that all our products meet regulatory standards both domestically and internationally. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the beauty industry's regulatory landscape and working closely with cross-functional teams such as Legal, Product Development, Packaging , Commercialization, and Brand Marketing. This role is on a hybrid office model and works out of our New York City office.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance (of products, packaging, labels and supporting documentation) across all Supergoop! Products and packaging
- Provide regulatory guidance and support internal teams on product labeling, claims and advertising
- Determine and/or validate existing regulatory information including legal ingredient declarations, allergen information, analytical tolerances, suitability based on product composition in our online formulation repositories. Provide active oversight and approvals of all formulas, in collaboration with the regulatory team members
- Ensure specifications, safety data sheets, product registrations and product labels are issued accurately and, in a timeline, consistent with Commercialization dates. Ensure all product registrations, submissions and approvals are timely achieved
- Ensuring compliance with the requirements of third-party certifying bodies in collaboration with General Counsel and QC
- Represent the Company in interactions with regulatory agencies, industry associations and other related external stakeholders
- Oversee regulatory compliance audits and inspections and develop corrective action plans as needed
- Stay abreast and share knowledge of changes in the global regulatory environment and industry trends; proactively assess their implications and impact on the Company’s products and operations. Prepare and present regular reports to internal senior management on regulatory compliance status, issues and trends
- Monitor and manage product related incidents, recalls and safety issues in coordination with relevant internal stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance regulatory compliance processes and capabilities
Qualifications/Experience:
- Degree in a related discipline such as chemistry, biology, toxicology, or chemical engineering required
- At least 10-15 years experience in a cosmetic regulatory role
- OTC or pharmaceutical experience desired
- In-depth knowledge of global cosmetic regulations, including FDA, EU Cosmetic Regulation, and international labeling and packaging compliance.
- Proven experience in managing regulatory submissions and obtaining product certifications
Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000 commensurate with experience
