Reporting to the Vice President, Technology, the Director, Platform Engineering will be accountable for overseeing the development of the technological infrastructure and architecture. You will lead a team of engineers who design, build, and assist in supporting scalable, reliable and secure platforms and systems required to deliver software products and services. The right candidate will combine technical expertise with strategic leadership to drive innovation, optimize efficiency, and enhance overall platform performance. The Director of Platform Engineering will be accountable for all platform vendor management, including achieving all operational metrics, meeting contractual SLAs, licensing, and contract management, managing governance, maintaining effective relationships, etc.

What You Will Do:

  • Leadership: Provide strategic direction and technical guidance to the platform engineering team, aligning their efforts with the overall business objectives. Set goals, establish priorities, and manage the team's performance.
  • Platform Development: Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable and reliable platforms and systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define platform requirements and ensure successful implementation.
  • Technical Excellence: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in platform engineering. Promote continuous improvement in processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance platform performance, security, and availability.
  • Team Management: Recruit, develop, and retain top engineering talent. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, promote a collaborative work environment, and foster a culture of innovation and experimentation.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments such as project management, Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity to ensure successful integration and operation of platforms. Champion cross-functional collaboration, communication, and knowledge sharing.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with executive leadership, business stakeholders, and external partners to understand their requirements, and provide technical solutions and recommendations. Act as a trusted advisor on platform-related matters.
  • Compliance and Security: Ensure the platforms comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and security practices. Implement and maintain appropriate security controls, disaster recovery plans, and monitoring systems to protect platform integrity and data confidentiality.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Substantial related experience overseeing the development of technological infrastructure and architecture
  • Experience developing and deploying scalable and reliable platforms and systems
  • Experience working on large transformational projects 
  • Demonstrated IT development experience in platform engineering and architecture

The salary range for this position is $114,700 to $172,100 with a corresponding job level of M3
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, knowledge and experience
