Director of Security:
The Games Planning & Delivery group aims to deliver the most seamless, innovative, and engaging Games experience ever for all athletes, fans, partners, and the community. The Games Planning & Delivery team is organized in four key areas: Venue Management, Venue Infrastructure, Games Delivery Revenue, and Games Operations. The Director of Security will sit within the Games Operations team and report to the Senior Vice President of Safety & Security.
The Director of Security will develop and implement security and safety policies and procedures for the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organizing Committee. This role will administer and maintain policies to assure the safety of property, assets, and people within the organization. This role will also ensure compliance with safety regulations and integrate security measures with technology systems. In addition, this position will create disaster and crisis preparedness plans, along with developing and implementing plans to respond to critical threats and issues.
The Director of Security will work effectively with local law enforcement entities to ensure the safety of LA28 personnel and conduct internal investigations as required. This role will develop a Safety and Security Continuity of Operations Plan and an Emergency Action Plan proactively planning for emergencies and catastrophic events.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy
- Drive strategy and direction for facility operations from a safety and security perspective
- Develop and refine organization-wide security policies and procedures that align with international safety standards and best practices, ensuring a secure environment for all stakeholders
- Consult and advise senior leaders on security planning and strategy related to security projects and working groups.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures.
- Lead the design and execution of comprehensive emergency response strategies and disaster recovery plans, with a proven track record of handling high-pressure situations effectively
- Develop and implement security protocols that consider the diverse needs of all participants, from varied backgrounds and abilities
- Support SVP of Safety & Security in departmental tracking and reporting of targeted threats
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Establish and manage communication channels with relevant stakeholders to share critical security information and updates.
- Coordinate and conduct industry-leading security awareness training focusing on Active Shooter training and Workplace Violence for all LA28 personnel.
- Ensure that all emergency and disaster preparedness plans are inclusive, addressing the needs of people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups
- Develop strong relationships and facilitate collaboration and integration among senior law enforcement officials and building management personnel.
- Participate in the development of short-term and long- term security planning processes, procedures, and policies.
- Utilize security technology and systems integration to enhance safety measures, demonstrating a proficiency in adapting new technologies to complex security environment
- Plan and develop security mitigation policies and strategies for all LA28 facilities.
Background & Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of law enforcement experience with at least 2 years of management experience.
- Experience working with senior executives, building cross functional partnerships, and influencing external stakeholders across multiple departments.
- Demonstrated deep expertise in global security practices with a focus on large-scale international events, highlighting a decade of evolving responsibilities in security management and strategic operations
- Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement security changes that positively impact the organization and it's stakeholders, influencing at the highest levels
- Show a history of successful stakeholder management, including coordination with international law enforcement and security agencies.

Submission Requirements:
The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000.00-$170,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
