About the Position

Foursquare is looking for a Director, People Operations to join our team located in or near one of our office hubs in New York City or San Francisco. 

The People Team aspires to be a force multiplier for Foursquare’s transformation from a product company to a platform company. To achieve this, the People Team works in partnership with leaders and team members across the business to build the operational foundations, organizational infrastructure and cultural capacity to fuel vibrancy and velocity at FSQ. The Director, People Operations will be a critical catalyst in this journey, working closely with the other People Team Leaders (People Business Partners, Organizational Development, and Recruitment) and our organizational stakeholders (Executive Team, employees, etc.) to manage and optimize the foundations of our People Team practice: our people team ops.

The ideal candidate for this role is a strategic and inspirational people leader with an unparalleled bias for high quality execution. You will bring deep operational experience and expertise alongside a systems-thinking approach to designing processes that optimize our ability to deliver a high quality employee experience. Strong communication skills, business acumen, and the agility to lead in a fast-paced and innovative environment are a must. As we work to increase our capacity as a transformative People Organization, this role will be critical in pushing the boundaries of emerging practices in the people space,.

In this role, you’ll

  • Oversee the People Operations pillar of the People Team; inclusive of our full tech stack, our HRIS (Workday), People Analytics, and the myriad of additional benefits platforms we manage. 
  • Spearhead the strategic vision for People Operations; emphasizing automation and innovative practices over conventional ticketing systems and shared service centers.
  • Drive transformative change in HR operations; utilizing cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to streamline processes, enhance employee experience, and foster operational excellence.
  • Spearhead and champion critical People Operations initiatives; including optimizing and improving the operational side of our employee experience in close partnership with our Organizational Development and Business Partner Leads on the People Team. 
  • Oversee the high quality delivery of critical employee processes such as performance management, benefits administration, and leave and time off management.
  • Ensure the People Team works in close, collaborative partnership with our legal, compliance and privacy partners to adhere to regulation requirements while still operating in a principle-based culture.  
  • Manage our people analytics + data, supporting the team in turning data into insights that drive concrete actions and initiatives for our leaders and their teams.
  • Manage the team working on all aspects of benefits administration and develop strategies to drive employee awareness and understanding of all benefit programs. 
  • Proactively identify any operational barriers or accelerants to achieving organizational strategy and people team strategy that could be addressed via stronger operational foundations or solutions. 
  • Work with People team to scale our principles, practices and processes as we grow across multiple offices and locations globally
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging experimentation within the People Operations domain. 

What you’ll need 

  • 10+ years experience as a People Operations leader in roles of increasing complexity and scope, partnering directly with senior leaders and Executives
  • At least 5+ years directly managing a team of people operations professionals
  • Expertise in project and program management, bonus if experienced in more agile methodologies of product management 
  • Change management expertise and experience managing and implementing  complex multi stakeholder initiatives and tech implementations
  • Experience leading people analytics or a people analytics team
  • Ability to use data to drive strategic business decisions and develop action plans 
  • Experience working in a start-up environment or in the tech space
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills and ability to coach and build rapport with a diverse workforce across multiple locations

At Foursquare, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry and market standards.  Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, and specific office location.

The annual total cash compensation range is $180,000 - $220,000, however actual salaries can vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills and competencies, as well as location. 

Salary is just one component of Foursquare’s total compensation package, which includes restricted stock units, multiple health insurance options, and a wide range of benefits!
