Float is Canada’s first finance platform designed to empower businesses with fast, flexible, and accessible financial solutions. Our integrated suite of products—including corporate cards, bill pay, reimbursements, and financial services—rethinks how companies access capital, streamline spending, and manage growth. Backed by world-class investors like Tiger Global, Golden Ventures, and Susa Ventures, we’re disrupting the global B2B finance space—and we’re looking for bold innovators to help shape the future of business finance.
As the Director of Partnerships at Float:
You’ll drive the 0-1 build and execution of Float’s major strategic and technical partnerships, as well as enterprise white-label opportunities. You’ll identify, develop, and manage large-scale partnerships that expand Float’s reach, focusing on high-impact collaborations with other high-growth technology companies and financial institutions that align with our long-term growth and product strategy.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for:
- Leading the development and execution of Float’s strategic partnership initiatives, including white-label and API opportunities, and B2B programs, to expand Float’s presence across the financial services and technology sectors.
- Building and nurturing relationships with major partners, including financial institutions, corporations and other high-growth technology companies, to create synergies that drive customer acquisition and product growth.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders, especially Product, to ensure partnerships deliver meaningful business outcomes.
- Identifying new business opportunities through strategic partnerships that enhance Float’s product offerings, create white-label possibilities, and unlock new revenue streams.
- Negotiating complex partnership agreements and contracts to establish mutually beneficial collaborations that drive long-term growth for Float.
- Ensuring that partnerships align with Float’s vision and strategic goals, while monitoring performance and optimizing partnership outcomes.
What your week-to-week looks like:
- Crafting and refining the partnership and white-label strategy to spearhead Float’s most impactful initiatives, driving growth and expanding market reach.
- Leading negotiations with high-value partners to secure commercially beneficial terms and structure agreements that support Float’s revenue and expansion goals.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with product, sales, and marketing to ensure that partnership strategies align with core business objectives and deliver measurable commercial outcomes.
- Analyzing market data and partnership performance metrics to make data-driven adjustments, optimize profitability, and enhance the long-term impact of each collaboration.
- Actively engaging with industry leaders and potential partners at key events, building networks to source and initiate new partnerships that elevate Float’s competitive positioning.
Requirements
You’ll be great in this role if:
- You’ve got the experience. To be successful in this role, we’re looking for 8+ years of experience in partnerships, business development, or strategic alliances, ideally within financial services or high-growth technology companies. You have a proven track record of building successful large-scale partnerships and programs. Important: we’re looking for a builder – not just a manager!
- You have strong commercial acumen. You’re not just focused on relationship-building but on ensuring that partnerships deliver significant financial and business value for both Float, its partners and the ultimate customer. You understand how to assess opportunities and negotiate deals that drive revenue, growth and customer value.
- You’re motivated by growth. You have experience growing a partnerships program from scratch or scaling existing ones, especially in strategic and white-label partnerships. You have a commercial mindset and understand how partnerships drive revenue and business value.
- You’re a strong communicator. You can navigate complex negotiations and have excellent relationship management skills. You can manage multiple stakeholders, both internally and externally, and you’re comfortable driving discussions that lead to win-win outcomes.
- You’re proactive and adaptable. You’re comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and thrive on taking initiative to pursue new opportunities. You can adapt quickly to shifting priorities while keeping the long-term vision in focus.
- You’re a team player. You work well in cross-functional environments and enjoy collaborating with teams across the company to achieve success.
- You believe in the customer-first mindset. You understand the value that partnerships can bring to customers and advocate for their needs in every initiative.
This role won’t be a fit if:
- You’re not driven by a relentless pursuit of growth – both personally and for Float and its customers
- You’re more of a Partner Manager vs. Partnership Builder
- You are not a self-starter and do not like to work independently
- You aren’t obsessed with your craft
- You don’t like ambiguity
- You don’t like regular feedback on your work
- You aren’t super passionate about helping Float build the best corporate card and spend management platform in Canada
- You are uncomfortable with direct feedback
- You prefer stability over change
- You aren’t comfortable prioritizing your own to-do list
- You don’t like to work asynchronously
- You don’t have a very strong work ethic
- You aren't a team player
- You aren’t resilient
- You have an ego
Don’t meet every single requirement? If you’re excited about this role and strongly align with our values but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be the right candidate for this or other future positions.
