The Director of Program Management’s responsibility is to create and maintain effective processes for end-to-end program delivery; recognize and manage cross-initiatives, cross-functional and cross-business dependencies; and manage risks and change to ensure the program objectives are aligned to desired business strategy and outcomes.
Essential Functions
- Lead, coach, and manage a team of program managers responsible for planning and running technology projects using methodologies such as Agile/Scrum.
- Manage the planning, execution, and achievement of programs, processes, milestones and goals.
- Monitor and report progress regarding project execution directly or indirectly via the program management team members. Perform risk and issue identification, mitigation, and resolution.
- Develop and maintain an integrated global Program strategy, including software development life-cycle management.
- Coordinate and ensure execution of the Program strategy across sub-teams and functions.
- Serve as a central point of expertise for the Program strategy and lead collaboration and performance across the teams.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure execution and achievement of program goals.
- Engage stakeholders, ensure cross-functional alignment, and facilitate internal and external communication.
- Be a key player in Engineering organization-wide initiatives, lead projects and organize events supporting these initiatives.
- Anticipate long-term issues and make significant changes to improve efficiency and increase value of Program Management department (i.e. act as “change agent” beyond incremental tactical improvements).
- Participate in discussing strategic direction and seeking new opportunities for the company.
Essential Requirements
- Seasoned veteran, with 20+ years managing complex programs, particularly in the tech space plus 6 years of management experience.
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- Experience leading, coaching and mentoring scrum masters and program managers.
- Demonstrated capability in planning and managing resource capacity and budget per the plan by using Agile methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills, exceptional business acumen, and strategic general management perspective.
- Ability to rapidly identify key priorities, align strategic and tactical plans, and motivate cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional relationship building and communication skills, including the ability to navigate and build trust throughout the organization and with individuals at all levels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present to and engage a wide range of audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experiences in software development as a software engineer and a manager.
- PMP and CSM certifications.
