Summary: We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Product Marketing to lead our product marketing initiatives and drive growth in our innovative beauty start-up. This leader will be pivotal in shaping our product strategy, building comprehensive business analyses, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to achieve superior product positioning and market competitiveness. The ideal candidate will blend business acumen, data-driven insights, and strategic thinking to amplify our product impact and accelerate growth.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Product Growth Strategy

  • Define product priorities and ensure organizational alignment across all teams.
  • Identify new growth opportunities by analyzing market trends and consumer behaviors.
  • Decode market rules to make strategic recommendations that enhance product competitiveness and superiority.
  • Lead strategic discussions on product innovation to drive growth in key categories, formats, and shades.
  • Provide clear guidance on product quantities and potential in collaboration with commercial and S&OP teams.
  • Lead and drive pricing and profitability strategies for the whole organization.

2. Product Offer Competitiveness

  • Drive the portfolio strategy defining ideal ranges and driving assortment.
  • Own the product offer's competitive landscape and ensure market relevance.
  • Lead the development of compelling product concepts and positioning, collaborating closely with Product Development (PD).
  • Ensure claims are competitive and legally sound in collaboration with the legal team.
  • Lead the development of new formats (e.g., minis), kits, merchandise, and collateral to support product launches.
  • Oversee sampling strategy to effectively drive brand awareness and product trial.

3. Business Strategy, Analysis, and Performance Reporting

  • Report on business performance, providing comprehensive analysis and strategic recommendations to senior leadership. Optimize future marketing strategies and inform budget allocation, continually proposing improvements to enhance product impact and growth.
  • Assess potential and determine success factors of new product launches.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate product launches and overall marketing effectiveness.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of regional performance, generating actionable insights and implementing improvements to inform product development and marketing strategies.
  • Build an ecosystem of accurate, data-driven insights to guide product and business decisions effectively.

4. Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as the strategic lead within the company for product-related initiatives and business analysis.
  • Partner with Product Development, Sales, Creative, and Digital teams to align on product marketing objectives and strategies.
  • Drive product training programs for internal teams to build deep product knowledge and alignment.
  • Ensure ongoing alignment between innovation, marketing, commercial, finance and supply teams to streamline processes and enhance product impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in product marketing within the beauty or consumer goods industry with a Global scope
  • Proven success in leading product marketing strategies, product launches, and building competitive product offerings.
  • Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling abilities to craft compelling product narratives.
  • Experience managing and mentoring a marketing team.
  • Proficiency in project management, with the capability to juggle multiple initiatives and drive results.
  • Familiarity with marketing, finance and data analysis tools (e.g., CRM software, analytics platforms).
