The Opportunity

Brightflag is seeking an ambitious, highly motivated Director of Product Management to work with our Dublin based Product Management and Engineering teams and VP of Product to ensure that product development aligns with business strategy and meets customer needs. As a key decision-maker within the organisation, the Director of Product Management will play a critical role in shaping the direction and vision of a company’s product roadmap. You will need to be an experienced product manager and a strong leader who is capable of steering the team toward its product goals while ensuring it stays aligned with the roadmap and strategy.

The ideal candidate will have a background in delivering B2B products in an Enterprise SaaS environment in a senior product management role growing into a Director of Product Management.

You should have a strong interest in mission-critical enterprise technology, particularly in web application technology, have a deep attention to detail and ability to define and abstract complex business processes.

 

What You Will Be Doing

  • Aligning product strategy with business goals — Focused on our e-Billing product line ensuring that the product goals align with the overall business goals and company strategy
  • Driving product discovery, market research, and competitor research — Ensuring that the team performs the requisite product discovery and research activities so that the product meets customer needs and provides value
  • Driving innovation and new product development initiatives — As a senior leader in the product organisation, you will be responsible for driving innovation and research. This could involve adopting new modern ways of working and software development frameworks, analysing the market and competition, and introducing emerging technologies, user interfaces, and robust capabilities to the product suite, among other activities
  • Communicating product vision and strategy to stakeholders — In addition to stitching together the product vision, as the the director of product management you will also share our  vision and strategy with diverse stakeholders, regularly report on the status of development, and keep stakeholders informed of the product organisation’s strategy
  • Along with the VP of product,  be responsible for working with C-suite to align the product vision with the larger company vision. Communicate the product strategy, roadmaps, and metrics to external stakeholders and customers.
  • Lead the team in deriving the roadmap and release plans from the vision and strategy and translate them into actionable items
  • Responsible for communicating the voice of the market and customer to the team and stakeholders
  • Interfaces with other directors of cross-functional teams, such as engineering, sales, and marketing
  • As a leader,  needs to have an eye on the goals at all times to ensure the team achieves the timelines and roadmap committed to the customer
  • Communicate the product vision and strategy and work with cross-functional team leaders and drive consensus across different stakeholder teams and drive alignment at every step
  • You will have the opportunity to be hands-on as you will work within a Scrum squad for the first 6  months as Product Manager, responsible for delivery of features on the roadmap for that squad (due to temporary  leave of a Product Manager)

Skills & Experience

To be successful in the role, you need:

  • 8+ years’ progressive experience as a product manager growing into a Director of product management role. With at least the last 3 years as a senior member of the product team.
  • Background in successfully delivering B2B SaaS software products for Enterprises, preferably in the Legal, Telecoms or Finance markets 
  • Experience with financial analysis and product pricing 
  • Experience of operating within an Agile environment
  • Experience developing AI products
  • Highly collaborative with excellent communication skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and influence stakeholders at various levels and in different teams (executive leadership, go-to-market, engineering, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to develop effective solutions to meet business needs
  • Previous experience in thinking critically about strategy and see the big picture while  creating and executing plans
  • Proven ability to mentor, develop and lead product team members

The following are a bonus!

  • Experience with UX a plus
  • Experience in the Legal domain is an advantage

Location & Eligibility

This role offers a flexible work location across Ireland. Whether that be in the office, remote from anywhere in Ireland most weeks, or a mix of office/remote work, you choose what works best for your lifestyle. This role will be based in our Dublin office at least once a month.
