About the Team

The Coupang Catalog Team is responsible for hosting billions of products in Coupang’s catalog and the dynamic processing of hundreds of millions of updates to provide the source of truth that powers the online buying experience for millions of customers. We strive to deliver a world-class platform for our customers to find and discover complete, accurate and trustworthy product information without friction and at the lowest price. We continually invest in the latest technologies to ensure the scalability, precision and reliability at scale of these critical systems.

What you will do

In this pivotal role, you will be leading our catalog operations organization in Taiwan and ensuring the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and efficiency across our product listings.  In this role, you will oversee the management of our online product catalog, working closely with third-party sellers, internal teams, and data-driven strategies to enhance user experience and drive conversion. You will also support the development of machine learning algorithms, metrics, and analyses within the Catalog team. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in e-commerce, product information management, and team leadership, along with a passion for creating an exceptional shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Catalog Strategy & Management

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive catalog strategy that supports the business goals and focuses on optimizing the quality, consistency, and accuracy of product listings.
  • Implement processes to maintain high catalog standards across all product categories, ensuring easy navigation and seamless user experience for customers.

Product Data Quality & Compliance

  • Set and enforce standards for product data, descriptions, images, and categorization to ensure consistency across the platform.
  • Collaborate with third-party sellers to provide guidance and support on catalog requirements, ensuring compliance with company standards and policies.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of catalog managers, data specialists, and quality assurance professionals.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation within the catalog team.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the marketing, sales, customer service, and technology teams to support campaigns, seasonal promotions, and new product launches.
  • Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to improve catalog-related tools, technologies, and workflows.

Data Analysis & Insights

  • Monitor catalog metrics (e.g., listing accuracy, data completeness, error rates) to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Generate insights and reports on catalog performance, using these findings to inform strategic decisions and optimize catalog processes.

Automation & Technology Integration

  • Lead initiatives to leverage new technologies, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, to automate and streamline catalog management.
  • Implement tools to improve data accuracy, reduce manual efforts, and enhance catalog scalability as the platform grows.

Essential Qualifications: 

  • 8+ years of experience hiring, managing, and developing both individual contributors and senior leaders
  • Experience communicating results of analysis to senior leadership
  • 7+ years of experience in tech, operations or consulting
  • 5 years of experience hiring, managing, and developing both individual contributors and senior leaders
  • Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and develop high-performing teams.
  • Experience in training and managing vendor partners across multiple projects in a highly cross-functional environment
  • Strong critical thinking/analytical experience with working knowledge of SQL
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Data Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in the e-commerce industry.
  • Experience working and influencing cross-functionally and building relationships across globally distributed teams, with people outside the direct reporting chain and senior executives.
  • Experience leading, driving, launching and managing AL/ML labeling operations with at one of the targeted workloads: NLP/NLU; Deep Learning; LLM; OCR; or any other relevant technologies.
