This is an excellent opportunity for a Director of Philanthropy, Operations (40 hrs. /wk., benefits eligible) at our Jackson Street Administration Office in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Director of Philanthropy, Operations is a key role in PPWI’s fundraising program, accounting for the oversight of programs which generate more than half of the donor revenue annually. The Director leads the operational, financial, and Direct Response functions of the Philanthropy department. The Director will successfully manage a team to plan, develop, and implement policies, and procedures related to all aspects of donation processing, reporting functions, database management, and hygiene as well as high-level data support for frontline fundraising portfolios.

- Expertise in Raiser’s Edge and Raiser’s Edge NXT and all back-office database functions related to gift processing, data hygiene/integrity, moves management, reporting and financial reconciliation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced proficiency in Excel list segmentation and data sorts.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of equivalent work experience, which includes experience in management/supervisory positions with a focus on training and development.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable flaws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Physical demands of the position necessitate hearing, talking, handling and grasping regularly. May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Specific vision conditions include close vision reading. Requires the ability to operate a computer, telephone, fax, copy machine and adding machine or calculator.

The position is generally performed in an office environment but involves frequent interruptions. This position requires travel statewide, therefore a valid driver’s license and auto insurance in accordance with agency liability standards is required. Must have reliable transportation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This role is responsible for the success of all direct response programming, including, but not limited to, Sustainer, Legacy, and Mid-Level programs, both c3 & c4 Direct Mail programs, digital engagement and solicitation and other one-to-many mailings, as well as overseeing the analysis of one-to-many fundraising program performance as it relates to trends, patterns, and implementation of tools and technology across various donor segments to build a robust donor pipeline.
Data Management and Reports
- Directs and supervises the day-to-day operations of philanthropy office and the donor database staff members (data entry, reporting, gift processing, acknowledgement process, prospect research, data hygiene and administrative support) to ensure accuracy and efficiency, maintain data hygiene, and create a strong operational foundation for the work of the development department as a whole.
- Works closely with VP of Philanthropy to make strategic recommendations on data collection, integration, and retention requirements incorporating business requirements and knowledge of leading industry practices.
- Leads the management and execution of reports and data request processes with both internal & external clients, Ad-hoc/systematic, data domains, tools/reports/data access, etc. as appropriate
Analysis of Fundraising Programs:
- Directs trend analysis, guided predictive analytics and data mining to provide actionable insights that inform strategic and tactical decisions.
- Implementation of analytical tools and performance management reports for all fundraising programs and initiatives, requirements gathering, development, documentation and maintenance of reports, dashboards, and data visualization tools to further fundraising efficiency and growth
- Provides direction and guidance on the mid-level program development and implementation, including giving level program criteria and movement across levels, donor treatment and experience tactics/tools, and coordination of cultivation, solicitation and stewardship at the one-to-some giving level.
Digital Engagement and Solicitation:
- Leads the development and implementation of multi-channel campaign cultivation and stewardship strategies for all one-to-many donor programs to include the identification of target audiences, timelines, design, content development and approvals. annual solicitation schedule for all donor levels, cultivation campaigns
- Responsible to stay informed regarding industry trends, innovations and leading practices for all direct response, midlevel and digital donor work to continue to build a robust donor pipeline and move the donor through a journey.
Collaboration:
- Works closely with the Finance Department to ensure alignment between Raisers Edge and Financial Edge.
- Responsible for providing financial status and updates against annual goals for Senior leaders, Board Members, and other stakeholder groups as required.
- Liaise with outside consultants and/or vendors using discretion and independent judgment
