The Director of People & Culture will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that attract, develop, and retain top talent while fostering an inclusive, respectful, and high-performing organizational culture. Reporting to the Vice President of Administration and working in conjunction with the Chief Financial & Administrative Officer, this role will lead a team of three HR professionals, oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle, lead strategic initiatives, and ensure our mission and values are reflected in our workplace practices and employee experience.
This is a full-time, exempt position. This role has a hybrid work schedule - the incumbent must reside in the state of Texas and will be expected to attend meetings and regularly perform certain portions of essential duties on-site. Based on this need for regular presence on-site, the ideal candidate will reside in the Central Texas or San Antonio regions. Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Define a strategic vision for the People and Culture function that aligns with THA’s mission and goals.
- Collaborate with department heads and senior leadership to address workforce planning and organizational development needs.
- Serve as a culture ambassador, working closely with leadership to ensure THA’s values of accountability, trust, total inclusion, innovation, respect, and excellence are reflected across all levels of the organization.
Talent Acquisition & Retention
- Implement a talent acquisition strategy that attracts diverse, high-quality candidates and includes a robust talent pipeline for roles that are difficult to fill or have frequent turnover.
- Drive initiatives that foster employee engagement, enhance job satisfaction, and improve retention across the organization.
Employee Development & Training
- Oversee professional development programs that support employee growth and increased organizational capability.
- Guide the establishment of career development paths and promote opportunities for internal advancement.
Performance Management & Employee Relations
- Establish performance management processes that foster a culture of clear performance expectations, continuous feedback, and cooperative improvement.
- Facilitate conflict resolution and the prompt and appropriate addressing of employee concerns or grievances.
Data & Technology Integration
- Utilize technology, data, and analytics to streamline processes, inform HR strategies, and enhance decision making.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide insights to senior management.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging
- Collect and analyze data on workforce demographics and employee engagement to identify areas for improvement.
- Champion the integration of DEIB principles into workplace policies and practices
Compensation & Benefits
- Maintain competitive compensation structures and benefits packages aligned with available budgetary resources
- Manage employee benefits program and interface with retirement plan administrators, benefits broker, and other benefit partners.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations while promoting best practices in people management
- Conduct on-going audits of required licensure, certifications, and personnel files
Communication & Change Management
- Effectively communicate HR policies and collaborate with other departments.
- Provide guidance on response and communication during organizational changes or crises.
- Minimize disruption and maintain employee morale during transitions.
Compensation:
Based on job duties and requirements, this position is placed in pay grade 49 with a full-time, annual salary range of $100,000 to $120,000 plus a performance incentive structure. The actual compensation package will be based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field required.
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in human resources, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing and developing a team of HR professionals
- Experience in nonprofit healthcare sector highly desirable
- SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or other relevant professional certifications preferred
Skills & Abilities
- Expert knowledge of HR best practices, talent management, benefits administration, employment law, and organizational development principles.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on, collaborative approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS, talent management systems, and HR data analytics
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and identify patterns and trends in behaviors.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
