About the Role:

We’re looking for a talented, experienced Director of Paid Search who can impress with actions, not with industry buzzwords (who really knows their stuff) to lead our experienced Paid Search team in our hyper-growth global direct-to-consumer e-commerce startup. As Director of Paid Search, you will plan, develop, and execute Search and Shopping strategies that will lead to customer acquisition and sales growth, while being responsible for annual budgets in the eight figures. This is the perfect opportunity for a self-motivated, determined and heavily data-driven leader to create a massive impact on a young, explosive start-up. Additionally, you must be data driven and able to think outside the box & bring new ideas to the table to help grow already successful campaigns. 

Main KPIs:

  • Individual KPIs
    • Ability to independently own their SEM accounts.
    • Consistently deliver and hit performance targets.
    • Keep weekly campaign pacing to within goals.
    • Proactively seek and test new ideas to push the boundaries of existing campaigns.
    • Execute delegated tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
  • SEM Team KPIs
    • Manage a team of SEM channel managers working on other Resident brands.
    • Collaborate with individual members to develop new campaign tests.
    • Deliver unique performance targets by Resident brand.
    • Delegate frequently changing marketing plans by brand to channel managers.
    • Add to team culture in a positive manner.

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Execute day-to-day campaign building, optimization, and maintenance for multiple Google Ads accounts - ideation, keyword opportunities, campaign structuring, targeting, testing, reporting, etc. 
  • Collaborate with each SEM channel manager to design, develop, and deploy brand-specific marketing plans and tests.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all brands’ seasonal SEM campaigns with hyper focus on leading industry sale periods (including but not limited to Memorial Day, Black Friday, Flash Sales)
  • Manage and implement campaigns across Paid Search, Shopping, Discovery Ads and Gmail Ads as well as all Bing products.
  • Manage Merchant Center product feeds & optimize data within them to strategically grow Shopping Campaigns
  • Own all testing methodologies within search and shopping, including and not limited to bidding, audiences, ad copy, and landing pages.
  • Manage a combined seven-figure monthly budgets across 4+ Resident brands and proactively drive campaigns to distinctive sales and revenue targets, while ensuring basics like Quality Score and ad copy testing are routinely measured and improved.
  • Collaborate with the Data and Analytics team to identify areas for growth and improvement across every level of SEM accounts.
  • Drive short-term and long-term search strategies and share findings with stakeholders. 
  • Own relationships with platform partners like Google and Microsoft.

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 6+ years’ experience actively managing AdWords and Bing paid search and shopping campaigns in B2C/DTC Ecommerce from prospecting to RLSA audiences. Experience with Local campaigns and sharing 3rd-party partner (co-marketing) budgets is a plus.
  • 2+ years’ experience managing a team of multiple digital marketing individual contributors.
  • Experience in Google/Bing merchant center and manual feed development & management.
  • Experience in feed optimization with 1000+ SKUs.
  • Modern approach towards account structure - familiar with automated bid strategies, a consolidated account structure, DDA attribution model, portfolio bid strategies, Performance Max, etc. 
  • Deep understanding of the Google ads ecosystem (algorithm, bid strategies/techniques, measurement, etc) as well as experience with Google Analytics 360.
  • Analytically minded with the ability to optimize campaigns based on data generated and solve complex problems. 
  • Experience launching new accounts, including building, tracking, scaling, and optimizing.
  • Experience in attribution, tracking, testing, and campaign reporting (experience with Looker a plus)
  • Measurable success in running performance-based SEM campaigns with annual budgets in the mid-seven-figure or higher range.
  • Ability to self-motivate, work independently, and work within a decentralized team with strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Desire to continually learn and stay on top of current marketing trends, especially SEM trends.
  • Start-up experience is a plus. 
  • Holiday periods are some of the busiest times of year for us and all marketing teams need to stay connected during these times.
  • YouTube and Display experience a plus
