Director of Marketing and Communications
The Director of Marketing and Communications will work with the Vice President of Enrollment, Marketing & Communications and be responsible for managing the execution of Democracy Prep’s overall communication strategy which includes its vision for branding, marketing campaigns, internal and external communications. This Director will work closely with various internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to: External Affairs Associate, Senior Manager of Visual Arts and Graphic Designer, Senior Manager of Global Citizens, Regional Superintendents, various CMO teams and school-based operations and leadership teams to help us meet our marketing and communication goals. The Director of Marketing and Communications will report to the VP of Enrollment, Marketing & Communications.
This role is based out of our New York region. Priority will be given to applications submitted by 5/24/2024.

- A graduate of a Bachelor’s degree program (required), Master's degree in related field (preferred).
What You’ll Do
- Work closely with the Vice President of Enrollment, Marketing & Communications to ensure Democracy Prep stakeholders have an aligned vision and a shared narrative year-over-year.
- Supervise the Marketing & Communications Team to support marketing and communications efforts in the organization and ensure each person’s effectiveness in their roles through clear feedback, strong accountability and routine coaching.
- Create and manage internal and external communications to all stakeholders.
- Oversee the Democracy Prep website and all social media accounts, including consolidation and auditing when needed.
- Oversee emergency and crisis communications, including creation of templates and management of decision-making stakeholders.
- Oversee visual graphic design, imagery and video production across the network.
- Oversee the preparation of presentations and written materials for the Chief Executive Officer, including preparation notes, formal presentations, newsletters, panel remarks, etc.)
- Oversee vendor relationships in partnership with the Director of Enrollment and Director of Recruitment to ensure marketing materials and digital resources are accessible and ready to be leveraged as a communication tool with families, prospective staff, the community, and other stakeholders.
- Oversee the effective execution of Regional Town Halls and other high profile events.
- Conduct marketing analysis across platforms and Democracy Prep regions. Prepare and provide reports on the overall effectiveness of current marketing strategies across the network as well as solutions to overcome marketing obstacles.
- With guidance from the Vice President of Enrollment, Marketing and Communications and other stakeholders work in conjunction with our current Marketing & Communications Team on robust social media and digital marketing campaigns to engage the communities in which Democracy Prep operates and to make sure that the external image of Democracy Prep aligns with the direction that Democracy Prep is moving in with regards to the network-wide strategic plan.
- Assist in aspects of the design, development, refinement, and execution of the enrollment and recruitment strategies across the network to ensure that schools can meet their enrollment and staffing goals by the first day of classes.
- Partner with the Civics department on key initiatives.
- Ensure collaboration between the Marketing & Communications Team and other CMO teams is strategically moving the Democracy Prep brand forward.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, including participation in network-wide or department specific initiatives and/or projects.
Compensation
Salary band is $105,000-$129,000 and commensurate with your experience. Democracy Prep staff members are provided with a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and a working environment that includes the necessary technology and resources to succeed.
