Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Director of Health and Fitness to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in assisting individuals and groups in achieving their health and fitness goals through personal training, group training sessions, health coaching consults, and daily fitness center operation. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and execution of various fitness programs and events. Duties/Responsibilities: In addition to below, this person will be responsible for the entire functionality of the Candace Stevenson Fitness Center at the EquipmentShare headquarters in Columbia, MO.
Personal Training:
- Responsible to conduct one-on-one personal training sessions with clients, assessing their fitness levels, helping set realistic goals, and designing personalized fitness programs to meet their individual needs.
- Provide guidance and motivation to clients during training sessions, ensuring proper form, technique, and safety.
- Track and monitor clients' progress, regularly evaluating and adjusting their training programs for optimal results.
- Educate clients about exercise techniques, nutrition, and lifestyle choices to support their overall health and fitness goals.
Group Training:
- Lead dynamic and engaging group training sessions, delivering effective workouts that cater to participants' fitness levels and goals.
- Provide clear instructions and demonstrations of exercises, ensuring participants perform movements correctly and safely.
- Motivate and encourage group members to push themselves and achieve their fitness objectives.
- Create a positive and inclusive atmosphere, fostering a sense of community and support within the group.
Health Coaching Consults:
- Conduct individual health coaching consultations, discussing clients' health history, lifestyle factors, goals, utilizing a client-focused approach.
- Collaborate with clients to develop personalized health plans, including exercise routines, dietary guidelines, daily-weekly tasks, habit building, stress management strategies, and behavior modification techniques.
- Offer ongoing support, guidance, and check-ins to clients, monitoring their progress and making adjustments as needed.
- Provide education and resources on various health-related topics, empowering clients to make informed decisions about their well-being.
Assistance With Daily Fitness Center Operation:
- Assist in the day-to-day operation of the fitness center, including equipment maintenance, facility cleanliness, and member check-ins.
- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all members, addressing any concerns or issues promptly and professionally.
- Collaborate with other staff members to schedule and coordinate training sessions, classes, and facility usage.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, memberships, and client progress.
Programs and Events:
- Contribute to developing and implementing fitness programs and events, such as challenges, workshops, and seminars.
- Assist in marketing and promoting fitness programs and events to increase participation and engagement.
- Lead or assist in the delivery of programs and events, ensuring a high level of quality and customer satisfaction.
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and stay updated on the latest trends and research in health and fitness.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven experience in personal training and group fitness instruction, with a demonstrated ability to deliver effective and engaging workouts.
- Strong knowledge of exercise physiology, nutrition, and fitness principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and motivate clients of diverse backgrounds and fitness levels.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks effectively.
- CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate client schedules and fitness center needs.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Nationally recognized certification in personal training, such as ACE, NASM, ACSM, or equivalent.
- Additional certifications in nutrition, group fitness, health coaching, or specialized training are highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and sit for long periods of time.
- Must be able to sit and use a computer.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 50 pounds.
