Overview of the role:
Join us at PolicyMe! We're modernizing insurance and we'd like your help. The Canadian insurance landscape has remained largely unchanged for decades and we are in the process of changing that. We're a remote-first, Toronto-based startup with big ambitions.
We are looking for a data-driven, results-oriented Director of Growth Marketing to own our sizable annual marketing budget and ensure we scale efficiently. You’ll bring a “small budget mentality” to each dollar—maximizing ROI, upholding ROAS targets, and treating efficiency constraints as exciting challenges to solve. You’ll build and lead a team focused on performance, collaborate with product and customer insights, and experiment with new channels and tactics to accelerate growth. You’ll also advise our B2B2C partners on best-in-class growth strategies, sharing experimentation insights and partnering to drive brand success across multiple lines of business.
What you'll be doing:
Maximize Budget and ROAS
Own a multi-million-dollar budget (CAD 8–10 million) across paid channels (Search, Display, Social, Affiliates, etc.)
Scale campaigns strategically while fiercely protecting ROI and hitting specific ROAS targets
Embrace budget constraints or shifting targets as an exciting challenge, not an excuse
Holistic Channel Integration
Develop strategies to align paid channels into one cohesive funnel, ensuring customers enjoy a seamless journey no matter where they encounter us
Monitor cross-channel user touchpoints and session data to refine targeting and messaging for higher conversion
B2B2C Advisory and Collaboration
Serve as a growth consultant to B2B2C partners, sharing best practices, experimentation insights, and data-driven recommendations
Help partners scale effectively, leveraging PolicyMe’s strategies to reach broader audiences
Customer-Centric Approach
Dig into product and customer data, listen to calls, and champion customer needs above any single channel or tactic
Tailor go-to-market strategies to different buyer personas, ensuring marketing decisions are driven by genuine customer insights
Strategic Experimentation
Design rapid experiments, analyze performance, and iterate to push boundaries on what’s possible
Keep a special focus on Search (SEM) while remaining open to emerging channels
Team Leadership & OKRs
Set clear team and individual OKRs, maintaining a consistent cadence of accountability and performance reviews
Be a true “player-coach,” guiding strategic decisions while diving into the details when necessary
Foster a “hands-on” culture of continuous improvement, ensuring everyone takes ownership
Brand & Performance Synergy
Approach every initiative as a reflection of PolicyMe’s brand—never sacrificing long-term trust for short-term wins
Balance immediate sales impact with brand awareness to build sustainable growth
Start-up Grit & Agility
Work efficiently in a fast-changing, often chaotic environment
Pivot quickly when conditions change, seizing opportunities and solving challenges without assigning blame
Stay motivated by the hustle, showing a willingness to grind and solve problems head-on
What we're looking for:
6-8+ years of growth/digital marketing experience with a strong focus on performance marketing and managing multi-million-dollar budgets (CAD 8–10 million+)
3+ years of experience leading high-performing marketing teams, setting OKRs, and driving accountability
ROI- and ROAS-focused mindset, with a “small budget” mentality for every dollar
Expertise in Search Marketing (SEM) plus proficiency in other performance channels
Solid analytics skills: comfortable with GA4, GTM, Looker, and similar tools
Player-coach mentality: equally skilled at strategy and in-the-weeds execution
Customer-focused outlook: understanding the product, listening to customers, and adapting strategies accordingly
Lifelong learner who actively stays current with new marketing channels, analytics methods, and growth frameworks
Entrepreneurial spirit: thrives in a startup environment and is motivated by building something from the ground up
Reports to: VP of Growth
Why join us:
Generous PTO - 20 vacation days
Access to stock options and a comprehensive benefits plan
A remote-first team with company paid, in-person socials and the option to work from our Toronto-based office
Resources to help your professional development, including an L&D budget, performance reviews twice a year and ongoing feedback to ensure you reach your highest potential
Work with an empathetic, high-performing team in a flexible, results-oriented environment
