Space is in our DNA. Orbital Sidekick (OSK) has a mission to leverage the untapped power of hyperspectral imagery (HSI) to address global environmental, health, and safety needs while helping companies reach their sustainability goals. Orbital Sidekick is establishing a space-based infrastructure of HSI sensors and analytic capabilities to enable real-time monitoring, detection, and risk management.
We’re looking for a Director of Government Programs whose work will ensure the performance of OSK’s active government programs, help inform the government strategy for OSK, and contribute to funding capture initiatives.
On a daily basis, you will work closely with several other members of OSK leadership, owning the performance of existing programs and helping support initiatives critical to our customers’ success. You will also work closely with the product team to inform software engineering, analytics, and payload efforts in support of OSK customer programs.
What You Will Do:
- You will own the management of tasks, activities, and delivery milestones for a portfolio of existing programs, including tracking scope, cost, and timeline. This is a customer facing role, with high exposure to decision-makers across defense, intelligence, civilian, and state government agencies.
- Regularly update Orbital Sidekick’s leadership team on project portfolio status and potential risks to on-time performance.
- Work closely with the product and technical teams to break down customer requirements, prioritize development, and communicate the impact of delivery.
- Support the development of program reports as contract deliverables, working closely with all internal OSK teams to deliver timely and accurate reports, data, and mission requirements.
- Analyze prospective program requirements and work with various OSK teams to support the framing of detailed objectives and program designs.
- Lead execution of OSK federal capture proposal efforts, coordinating with technical, financial, and strategic teams on proposal and program staffing/budget/schedule preparation.
- Collaborate with sales and product development teams to introduce new products and features that align with customer needs.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 7 years of experience in Program Management.
- Experience working in the geospatial community.
- Experience working directly with or within government agencies (in support of GEOINT programs a plus).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- A sharp eye for detail and excellent time management skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive team player. You have a bias for action and work effectively in an ambiguous, dynamic environment.
- Driven, process-oriented person. You’re able to effectively balance competing priorities and make decisions that best support the customer, the team, and Orbital Sidekick.
- You can identify and tactfully manage scope-creep.
- Works well across distributed and cross-functional teams to achieve common objectives.
Standout Candidates Will Have:
- Experience working directly with or from within government agencies.
- Experience supporting technical GEOINT programs.
- Experience in the aerospace industry and/or with startups.
- Exposure to documentation and knowledge platforms like Confluence or SharePoint.
- Active Secret or TS/SCI clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
- Preference for DC-based or San Francisco-based candidates, although remote candidates will also be considered.
