At GoDaddy, we are looking for our next Director of Engineering who will embrace a leadership role in our Generative AI (GenAI) team. Our GenAI team owns the foundational logic for the AI powered GoDaddy Airo experience which helps our customers go from an idea to full online presence in just minutes. We use the latest AI models and technologies to accelerate the success of over 20 million small business entrepreneurs globally.

As a Director of Engineering, you will lead teams which build and use generative AI and Machine Learning models to improve existing customer-facing products, as well as build innovative new experiences, that will have a direct impact on the businesses of millions of entrepreneurs!

This role will have a direct influence across multiple teams, product lines and experiences including GoDaddy Airo, Domains, Websites & Marketing, Logo, Email, Managed WordPress, Commerce, Web Hosting and SSL. Our Partners Architecture team provides guidance, mentorship, and design assistance to numerous teams across GoDaddy's business units.

• Build a diverse, self-sufficient, and fully functional team that owns and delivers new products and features for the GoDaddy Airo experience
• Embrace and lead with the latest technologies in the field of Generative AI and Machine Learning to build solutions that result in positive customer and business outcomes
• Build Generative AI models, prompts, and applications for intelligent business applications, social media post and design applications, logo generation systems, intelligent assistants and conversational experiences, and more
• Lead innovative solutions using foundational models/LLMs, model fine-tuning and RAG style application development
• Generate multilingual prompt completions using various ML tools and scripts
• Join forces and collaborate extensively with internal product, growth, and engineering teams to ensure that solution meets business needs
• Drive engineering and operational excellence including automation, quality, efficiency, productivity
• Provide technical leadership to the team including architecture, design, and code reviews
• Mentor engineers to reach their full potential. Manage a team responsible for achieving target scope, schedule, quality, and cost objectives
• Communicate results in a comprehensible manner to all levels of the company

Your experience should include...

• 10+ years of validated experience in a software engineering role shipping customer-facing products and services at scale with rich experience in large-scale data systems
• 8+ years of hands-on experience working as a leader of engineers, building effective teams, and creating a productive, inclusive, and fun workplace environment
• 2+ years’ experience in Cloud computing, using publicly available services (AWS Services preferred)
• Deep technical background in software engineering and generative AI
• Experience working in an agile environment, and iteratively deploying AI/Machine Learning systems iteratively
• Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment that is anchored on an experimentation culture
• A strategic problem solver able to see patterns and relationships in information and events
• The ability to steadfastly prioritize and deliver results
• Intellectual curiosity combined with a bias for action
• Demonstrate ability to partner across the company to drive tangible business results
