World Relief Quad Cities seeks a talented individual to serve as our Director of Empowerment Programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to inspire others, and the people and organizational skills necessary to lead a team of highly motivated, diverse professionals in empowering refugees and other immigrants to move toward self-sufficiency, stability, and integration through employment, case management, education, mental health, and community ambassador programming. 

Role & Responsibilities

  • Staff Supervision   
  • Hire, train, supervise, coach, and evaluate team members 
  •  Engage direct reports in annual performance management cycle including goal setting, quarterly progress check-ins, and annual performance evaluations   
  •  Provide leadership to the team by holding one-on-one meetings with all direct reports, delegating duties and responsibilities, providing consistent and ongoing feedback and communication, and mentoring and coaching team members, supporting their professional development 
  •  Address performance concerns proactively and manage disciplinary action as needed     
  • Program/Grants Management & Budget Oversight 
  •  Responsible for the overall leadership, development, implementation and measurement of six departments: Employment, Education, Mental Health, IFRP, Welcoming Center, and Community Ambassadors 
  •  Develop annual goals, projections, and performance standards for programs, and ensure these are met on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis   
  • In partnership with Finance Director, plan and manage department budgets, reviewing them on a quarterly basis and ensuring that expenses do not exceed income 
  •  Collaborate with the Grants Manager for renewal grants and grant acquisition activities for new opportunities when appropriate     
  • Program Evaluation & Reporting 
  •  Complete and submit reports to grantors and WR leadership in a timely manner 
  •  Perform monthly quality control tasks to ensure accurate reporting   
  • Formally and informally solicit client feedback about service provision, including regular feedback from immigrant community leaders     
  • External Communication   
  • Communicate regularly with external partners, sustaining and expanding partnerships for service provision   
  • Advocate on behalf of refugee families when necessary   
  • Attend state, headquarters, and coalition meetings to ensure programs are rendered effectively and efficiently to meet community needs and standards of funding     
  • Internal Communication & Collaboration   
  • Actively participate on the Leadership Team of WRQC, attending meetings and collaborating about services/initiatives 
  • Embody the mission, vision, and values of World Relief, setting an example for the office staff, volunteers, clients, churches, and the community 
  •  Support the development of a strategic plan and clear, achievable goals, assuring that department and program goals are consistent with the overall direction of the Quad Cities office   
  • Support the creation and maintenance of a healthy office culture that fosters staff and missional growth   
  • Other duties as assigned by the Office Director    
  • This role is responsible for supervising others and includes responsibilities consistent with supervising employees including but not limited to monitoring daily work activities, tracking and approving timesheets including approving time off, monitoring performance including entering goals, progress check-ins, and weekly or bi-weekly check-ins, documenting performance concerns, entering staff promotions, transitions, and separations in HRIS within required time frame. Managers at World Relief are also considered spiritual leaders and are expected to lead staff in a manner consistent with our Christian values including but not limited to praying with staff, leading devotionals, and fostering a Christian environment in interactions with staff throughout World Relief.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Skill and sensitivity working with people from various cultures, backgrounds and beliefs   
  • Experience in multicultural setting with the cross-cultural skills to work with people from various cultures, backgrounds and beliefs   
  • Knowledge of refugee resettlement process as well as needs of refugee and immigrant communities in the Quad Cities   
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and organize in a fast paced and fluid environment   
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and resolve problems promptly and effectively 
  •   Ability to work independently and as a team 
  •   Ability to effectively lead a diverse team of professionals
  • Bilingual ability desired 

Requirements

  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
  • Excellent ability to communicate orally and in writing   
  • Excellent computer skills with a high level of proficiency using Windows, Outlook, Work and Excel   
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role   
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in social services or other related field   
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience   
  • Valid drivers license, access to reliable vehicle and clean driving record
