Director of Content Strategy

 

Position Purpose 

At Argo Group, you will be responsible for strategy and execution for the company’s external digital content and communications. You will manage an enterprise editorial calendar, develop content, measure effectiveness, and partner with a team of staff and vendors. The channels you will oversee include the company website, thought leadership, social media, email marketing and e-newsletters.

As the Director of Content Strategy, you share the team’s deep understanding of and great passion for best practices in communications. You have a strategic outlook and the ability to develop and execute best-in-class tactics.

Accountabilities 

  • Build a digital content roadmap that will cultivate a more engaged group of external stakeholders and position Argo as a digital leader.  
  • Lead the integration of Argo’s web content, thought leadership, social media channels, email marketing and e-newsletters.  
  • Collaborate with creative and content teams and agency partners to develop a wide variety of campaigns designed to maximize consumption and engagement. 
  • Create a long-term vision for argolimited.com based on industry best practices and continuous improvement.  
  • Direct/partner with our external public relations team in the development of media relations and pitch ideas, including owned and byline content.
  • Lead thought leadership strategy and execution for product lines and Argo brand, including opportunities around recruiting, awards and conferences.
  • Ensure maximum performance and integration across social media and digital channels (website, email and e-newsletters).  
  • The periodic opportunity to work on projects from areas across marketing and communications.
  • Collaborate with marketing colleagues to audit the email and e-newsletter program and identify opportunities to increase overall quality and effectiveness.  
  • Leverage existing website, email and social performance measurement tools and collaborate with analytics partners to benchmark and optimize performance of all digital content. 
  • Provide recommendations on how best to support company’s broader business objectives. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams (IT, Legal, Claims) to ensure our digital platforms and initiatives are in sync and aligned with varied requirements. 
  • Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs). 
  • Identify trends and insights, and optimize SEO spend and performance based on the insights. 
  • Maintain strong knowledge of best practices in digital content communications, educating colleagues and challenging the group to pursue new areas of  
  • Foster an environment of continuous experimentation, testing and learning. 
  • Maintain best-in-class quality standards for external/internal communications and internal processes.  

 Qualifications 

  • 8+ years of digital communications experience. 
  • Outstanding editorial skills and commitment to the highest level of communications quality. 
  • Technical ability (including experience with content management systems) to create and implement tactics across all channels. 
  • Experience with customer journey mapping and implementation. 
  • Experience with search engine optimization. 
  • Detail-oriented, organized, strong project manager. 
  • Understanding of industry best practices and an eagerness to implement innovative communication strategies. 
  • Experience executing and building digital content communication programs, driving innovation and creativity. 
  • Demonstrated critical and strategic thinking skills. 
  • Experience maintaining effective relationships throughout an organization, and in undertaking effective teambuilding and fostering teamwork with staff. 
  • Demonstrated ability to coach communicators and develop talent. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required. 

 Preferred Qualifications 

  • Proven capability developing interactive experiences, including video. 
  • P&C Insurance and/or financial services experience. 
  • Solid knowledge of website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) 
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints 
  • Advanced degree and/or professional designation.
