Overview: We are seeking a motivated and strategic Opportunity Director to drive business development efforts within our organization. This role focuses on nurturing existing customer relationships, expanding our network, and identifying new opportunities to grow our business. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, a strategic mindset, and a collaborative approach to work alongside the SE&D’s Operations Director and other internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:

Customer Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for further engagement.
- Conduct regular check-ins with customers to understand their needs and feedback.

Network Expansion:
- Expand professional networks to connect with potential customers within the Scott AFB region.
- Attend industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote the company and identify new leads.

Opportunity Identification:
- Acquire and analyze information about upcoming opportunities that align with the company’s qualifications and capabilities.
- Identify gaps in opportunities that the company cannot support and explore ways to address these gaps through partners.

Partner Identification and Collaboration:
- Identify and evaluate potential partners to fill capability gaps and enhance competitive positioning for RFPs.
- Establish relationships with strategic partners to create strong teams for executing opportunities.

Proposal Support:
- Collaborate with the proposal team to support the preparation of responses to Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Ensure that proposals reflect the strengths and capabilities of the company and its partners.

Database Management:
- Maintain the content of the internal database of opportunities and track the status of potential leads and partnerships.
- Regularly update and analyze the database to inform strategic decision-making.

Technical Coordination:
- Coordinate with technical staff to gain a thorough understanding of existing capabilities and ongoing projects.
- Use this knowledge to effectively communicate strengths in proposals and discussions with potential customers.

Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate closely with the SE&D Operations Director to ensure alignment and information sharing regarding opportunities and operations.
- Respect each other’s roles and responsibilities while supporting the overall business development strategy.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering or a related field.

Proven experience in business development, sales, or related role.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze market trends and identify opportunities.
- Experience with proposal writing and responding to RFIs/RFPs.
- Familiarity with maintaining databases and tracking opportunities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
