Director, Multimedia and Video Growth

Fortune is seeking an experienced, creative, and collaborative Director of Multimedia and Video Growth to supercharge our expansion on YouTube and other video platforms. 

We’re looking for someone with a history of using tailored strategies to build audiences and drive monetization. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of what makes a good video story, and can apply learnings to a data-driven approach. Deeply collaborative, this role would interface with our social, editorial, tech/product, and live media teams. 

Reporting to the executive director of editorial growth, you will help develop strategy for YouTube and longform video, establish workflows with editorial, live events, and social, and identify growth opportunities to amplify Fortune’s audience.

Primary responsibilities: 

• Auditing Fortune’s existing YouTube and video strategy, and recommending improvements. 
• Managing a team of video producers and editors. 
• Building smart workflows to amplify our great reporting and live events via video. 
• Establishing a cadence for posting on YouTube and Shorts. 
• Approving pitches and ideas and assigning new stories.
• Studying performance and providing frequent updates and data-driven recommendations by working closely with video distribution and social media teams.
• Collaborating with our Live Media team on the best YouTube strategy for live interviews and conferences.
• Identifying video growth opportunities on site and syndication. 

Qualifications:

• 10 or more years of experience in multimedia journalism, with an emphasis on YouTube and video.
• 5 or more years of experience working closely with social teams to adapt original interviews and social content for YouTube.
• Multiple years of experience launching a video contributors/user-generated content program to diversify our video offerings. 
• Multiple years of experience making data-driven recommendations to grow video audiences and monetize video content in newsrooms. 
• Superior story sense and ability to communicate vision.
• Strong managerial and people skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across departments, including with social, editorial, tech/product, and live media teams.
• High energy and comfortable with fast-paced output. 

Location: Our editorial team is based across time zones and international borders. This role can be based in the US, with a strong preference for New York. If you’re based within commuting distance of one of our offices, there will be a minimum of 3 days/week in the office.

Salary Range: $100,000-$130,000. This range is a good-faith estimate and may ultimately vary based on a number of relevant factors.
