The Director, Events and Program Management oversees the event team and is responsible for developing event marketing strategies globally to increase awareness of Verisign in relevant marketplaces to drive domain name awareness, education and demand. This position leads the development, implementation and execution of an integrated global Go-to-Market event strategy including planning, competitive positioning, execution and analysis of events and return on investment. Additionally, this role supports internal company events in partnership with functional organization leadership. 

Leads development of a global event strategy including:

  • Channel event needs by working in partnership with global account management team to identify gaps, opportunities and specific regional event opportunities.
  • End user global event plan - understand and recommend end user global opportunities by segment to drive category awareness and new unit growth (tech/start-ups, web developers, creators, students, ecommerce platforms, etc.) by region/country. Prioritize what role Verisign should pursue – for ex. sponsorship vs. attend only.
  • Global domain name industry and technology event plan.
  • Application of learnings and insights from prior events.

Oversee all aspects of event programs including detailed project management, clarification of global roles & responsibilities, internal and external communications & timelines, status reports, travel briefs and report results.  Work cross functionally with integrated marketing team, MPC, Strategic Communications, Office of the CEO, Building facilities, etc.

Manage overall global event budget, forecasting, budget tracking/reconciliation, planning, and working closely with finance partner. 

Leads events competitive intelligence efforts to develop and execute effective events strategy and competitive positioning with our customers and alternative distribution channels. Monitors competitive event landscape and synthesizes competitive findings.

Hires, develops and manages Global Events team. Support individual development.  Selects and oversees the performance of vendors.

Directs the definition of metrics and performance targets aligned with business goals for all event activities and measures and reports on performance against those metrics.

Supports internal events and company-wide initiatives. Coordinates with other marketing leadership, product management and senior executives to ensure complementary plans are in place and marketing plans are aligned to Verisign's business objectives.  Develops, maintains and communicates Global Event Marketing calendar to maximize awareness and effective resource management. Plans, manages and oversees execution and cost and quality control of all internal events, both onsite and offsite, and maintains corporate events calendar to communicate resource use and avoid conflicting events.

Key qualifications:

  • 12+ years of progressively responsible, related business experience is required
  • Leadership and team development skills with 4+ years of managerial experience, required
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross functionally on a global level
  • Exceptional project oversight capability. Must be able to develop a global strategy and also be able to manage project details needed to execute the strategy 
  • Highly effective in influencing business unit leaders’ formation of Go-to-Market strategy
  • Ability to conceive of and implement enterprise marketing strategies that drive domain name category awareness and education
  • Experience and understanding across marketing disciplines including events, advertising and account management
  • B2B2C marketing experience
  • Event management expertise
  • Domain name industry experience, preferred
  • 4-year Bachelors degree in Marketing or a related field, required; MBA or equivalent, preferred

This position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a flexible, hybrid work schedule

The pay range is $160,300 - $216,900. 

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience. Verisign offers a discretionary bonus which is based on individual and company performance, and certain roles may be eligible for discretionary stock awards.
