The Director of Events drives the strategy, planning and execution of our big internal and external events to generate demand for our products, engage prospects through creative activations, build awareness of our brand, and delight Klaviyo’s existing customers. These include large industry events, conferences, bespoke activations, and proprietary events. This role requires coordination across various sales and marketing teams to prioritize, plan and communicate event strategy, field marketing and planning initiatives. This position reports to the VP of Integrated Marketing. 

The ideal candidate has strong communication and organizational skills, with a project management mindset and entrepreneurial, collaborative, and results-oriented approach to lead and/or support the creation of high-touch experiences that engage prospective customers and elevate our brand. This person has a proven record of working collaboratively with sales organizations, business owners and across multiple internal teams, with the ability and demeanor to handle change while managing multiple events and stakeholders. This is someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, has successfully managed large-scale projects, and understands how to implement strategies that drive measurable results and align with business goals.

How you’ll have an impact:

  • Define, plan, and manage the brand event strategy, including end-to-end management and execution of sponsorships, industry events, and stand-alone activations (ie SKO, CAB).
  • Develop bold event strategies and creative activations that generate pipeline and revenue with a key focus on ROI.
  • Play an active role in the annual strategic planning process by researching relevant industry events, demonstrating ROI from previously managed events, and providing recommendations.
  • Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and collaborate closely to build consensus, align goals, develop cohesive strategy, and execute on deliverables deadlines.
  • Manage ongoing vendor and event partner relationships, including sourcing, negotiation, contract management, and invoice/payment.
  • Maintain budget tracker and event planning documents per event to capture all planning elements, activities, and spend.
  • Lead pre- and post-event initiatives, including marketing promotion, sales outreach, logistics/setup, creation of event-specific collateral, lead tracking, and ROI measurement.
  • Organize planning sessions with key stakeholders to solicit input on goals and ideas and provide consistent and clear communication in a timely manner, including goal setting, briefing documents and timelines.
  • Work with marketing teams to ensure consistent strategy/messaging across all event efforts.

Who you are:

  • 10+ years professional work experience designing, developing, and delivering B2B industry and field marketing events for prospective customers and clients. Digital marketing is a plus.
  • Proven record of leading several complete events or diverse work streams from initial objective setting through development, execution, and measurement.
  • Ability to project manage with remote contributors and stakeholders efficiently and effectively.
  • Travel to all industry and strategic events
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Figma, Canva

The pay range for this role is listed below. Sales roles are also eligible for variable compensation and hourly non-exempt roles are eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable law. Base Pay Range For US Locations:
$184,000$276,000 USD
