Navan has disrupted the corporate Travel, Payment, and Expense market putting the user’s needs always at the center of our solutions. You now have the unique opportunity to become one of the first team members of a brand new venture at Navan that is aiming at disrupting the Meetings & Events industry! In your role, you will have a high degree of flexibility to shape a fast growing product from the ground up, working in a high profile cross-functional environment to launch a new product line at a fast pace. 

 

As a Director, Engineering, you will be responsible for growing and leading a product focused Engineering team, as well as end-to-end project execution.

  

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Lead the growing software engineering team, including responsibility for recruiting, career development, and mentoring of team members
  • Oversee product development from concept to production, driving the timely delivery of high quality feature releases and improvements
  • Provide technical direction, guidance, and hands-on management 
  • Plan for operational efficiency to scale products, programs and practices as we grow and expand
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, and other teams as well as external partners
  • Detect and navigate technical dependencies with other parts of the wider organization and communicate cross functionally 
  • Radiate our company values, elevate the team culture, and be a voice for the team

What We’re Looking For:

  • 8+ years of experience in Software Development at a fast growing company and on user-facing applications
  • 5+ years of experience in managing cross-functional development teams globally
  • Domain expertise in the travel and/or payment industries is a plus
  • Track record of building, scaling and maturing engineering teams as well as infrastructure in a startup environment is a plus
  • Track record of working with a high degree of autonomy and strong bias to take accountability 
  • Ability to balance business needs, a sense of urgency, and shipping high quality and pragmatic solutions
  • Charisma and interpersonal skills to coach and motivate staff through learning and development
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience
