Director of Employee Experience (EX) & Culture Enablement 

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Employee Experience & Culture Enablement to lead and manage a cutting-edge Employee Experience strategy & system for Flagship Pioneering. In a business unlike any other, that is focused on having transformative impact on our planet, we are looking for an extraordinary leader to help us innovate and scale our employee experience, diversity, inclusion & belonging (DIB) and culture shaping practices for the exceptional people at Flagship who accept the mission to change the world. 

Key Responsibilities:

The EX & Culture Enablement Director will be a key member of our pioneering team, overseeing strategy development and program launch & sustainment in these areas for Flagship Pioneering. They will report to the SVP of Leadership, Talent Management & Insights, and will serve as a key member of the Leadership, Talent Management & Insights Center of Excellence. This individual will plan, develop, and implement comprehensive employee experience, DIB and culture shaping strategies that align with our company's vision and needs. The initial role focus will be on shaping a healthy, diverse and inclusive culture, launching our first ever Flagship-wide values, accelerating our DIB strategy and key supporting platforms, and building an employee listening strategy. All these efforts support optimizing the moments & methods that will help each employee feel a deep sense of belonging and deliver on our purpose that is critical to Flagship’s future success.  

Responsibilities:

  • Develop & lead enterprise listening strategy, to include employee engagement strategy, synchronization with innovation culture survey, lead review of engagement & experience platforms to determine best platform for the organization, and harmonize with existing data & systems 
  • Develop enterprise-wide DIB strategy and embed in all leadership, talent and operational practices to include ERGs, Diversity Council, DIB event sponsorship, etc. 
  • Help develop a launch and sustainment plan for our company values in parallel with celebrating our 25th  
  • Serve as trusted advisor to senior leaders on action planning to continuously improve our culture and employee experience. 
  • Develop methodology to assess and optimize our employee experience at important moments that matter; collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to enhance experience at these critical moments.
  • Develop & lead execution of regional, national and international best places to work strategy and lead approach for establishing Flagship as a best place to work. 
  • Partner closely with HR Operations and Talent Acquisition to develop and enhance distinctive Onboarding and Alumni development strategy and program.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or related field. A master's degree or HR certifications are a plus. 
  2. Proven experience in designing and implementing evidence-based employee experience, DIB and culture shaping strategies that are rooted in human centered design and tailored to drive meaningful business impact.
  3. Excellent understanding of the employee experience life cycle and systems thinking of how to optimize the cycle. 
  4. Strong relationships in the DIB, employee experience and culture ecosystem of partners, vendors and thought leaders. Demonstrated passion for the tradecraft and investing in personal & professional innovation in the topic. 
  5. Excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to influence & sponsor first-in-kind ideas. 
  6. Ability to build strong relationships and influence at all levels of the organization, and to productively partner with business leaders and HRBPs to jointly move priorities forward.
  7. Strong strategic and critical & first principles thinking paired with a proactive, creative approach toward problem solving.
  8. Familiarity with employee engagement & listening platforms, HR databases, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Human Resources Management Systems (HRMS).
  9. Experience in project management and budgeting.
  10. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  11. Ability to work in a hybrid environment while balancing the critical need to be in our Cambridge office two to three days a week.
