Job Summary
 

The Senior Director of DevOps Engineering will oversee the architecture, development, and implementation of scalable DevOps and Infrastructure solutions across the organization. This role will be responsible for leading and evolving the Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps teams, implementing best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous integration, continuous delivery, and automation. This position requires a seasoned leader with a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, automation, DevOps methodologies, and experience in managing complex technical projects. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Define and execute the DevOps vision and strategy in alignment with business goals, championing best practices in cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and automation. 
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing DevOps engineering team; provide career development and training to enhance team skills. 
  • Oversee infrastructure architecture to ensure reliability, security, scalability, and performance for production and staging environments. 
  • Promote automation at all stages of the software lifecycle; ensure consistency and efficiency in deployment and scaling processes. 
  • Implement DevSecOps practices and security measures; ensure infrastructure and processes meet compliance standards and mitigate security risks. 
  • Work closely with software engineering, QA, and product teams to streamline workflows, improve software quality, and align DevOps practices with development needs. 
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure costs by managing resources efficiently; work with finance to budget and control expenses. 
  • Ensure the implementation of effective monitoring and alerting tools; lead incident management and root cause analysis processes to resolve issues swiftly.  
  • Working aligned to the company's values, in the promotion of an inclusive workplace, and in the achievement of our company vision and key strategies. 

Technical Skills / Competencies 

  • Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure and DevSecOps model.  
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, CircleCI). 
  • Experience with distributed systems, databases, and search.  
  • Strong knowledge of software development, infrastructure operations, and quality assurance practices and principles 
  • Proven success in leading change through complex environments and structures. 
  • Ability to make smart, timely and data-driven decisions and balancing roadmap risk, operating expense and client value. 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization. 
  • Knowledge of networking, security best practices, and compliance requirements (e.g., SOC 2, HIPAA). 

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 
  • 10+ years of experience in DevOps or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. 
  • Experience leading a globally distributed organization. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams. 
  • Experienced in effectively assessing, selecting and developing talent; adept at providing balanced, direct and actionable feedback to team members. Experience managing multiple priorities and overseeing distinct teams with varied strengths. 
  • Thrives on initiating, building and cultivating strong, authentic relationships inside and outside the team; highly collaborative; navigates and activates alignment across organizational boundaries. 

Leadership Responsibilities: 

  • Plan and coordinate work activities, connecting the work of the team with the vision, goals and success of the organization  
  • Nurture a culture of continuous improvement, agility, and resilience  
  • Establish key objectives/metrics to measure performance and ensure reports have the information, tools, and resources necessary to meet their goals. Identify and clear blockers, communicating changes in priority or focus in a timely manner  
  • Provide regular and continuous feedback concerning performance and apply appropriate performance interventions when needed  
  • Play a key role in the engagement and retention of direct reports, ensuring they feel supported, heard, and are given the appropriate level of autonomy  
  • Facilitate development conversations, encouraging reports to identify career goals and areas for growth, collaborating to establish development plans and encourage actions in support of their growth.  

 

Compensation 

Annual base salary gross:  170,000-200,000 USD for Director level, plus variable USD Annual. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Company's contemplated salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and geographic location. The salary is one component of Company's total compensation package for employees.
